Welch & Wilson Motorsports Rock N Race 100 This Saturday at ORP

One Lucky Fan Will Win a New Car

Salem, IN (September 13, 2010) – The CRA Super Series and Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series will return to action in this weekend’s Welch & Wilson Motorsports Rock N Race 100 Presented by Gas America at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Clermont, Indiana. The event will include a free tailgate party that will start at 2pm when the parking lot gates open, featuring live music starting at 3pm from Blue Luster and the Blue River Band. Fun Jumps of Greenfield, Indiana is providing an inflatable obstacle course and bouncy house free for kids. On Track Ministries will also have a tent with music and activities for kids.

The CRA Super Series competed at ORP every season from 1997 through the 2008 season. The series did not compete at ORP last season. The series has had 16 events at ORP, series two time Champion Brian Ross is the series all time winner at ORP with four victories. Scott Hantz is tied with Canadian racing legend Junior Hanley for second with three victories apiece. Hantz is entered for Saturday’s event as he tries to tie Ross’s record for series wins at ORP.

Other former CRA Super Series ORP winners entered for Saturday’s event includes Evan Jackson driving for NASCAR competitor David Stremme and former series Champions Jeff Lane and Kenny Tweedy. Current series point’s leader John VanDoorn is entered along with top series competitor Tommy St. John in the Welch & Wilson Motorsports entry, other top series racers entered include Rick Turner, Brian Campbell, Jason Dietsch, T.J. Fisher, Nick Lay, Jim Crabtree Jr., Damon Ecoff, Scott Whitehouse, John Heck and Jason Shively racing for fellow CRA competitor Tony Dager. Top series rookies entered include Perfect Circle Racecars Rookie of the Year point’s leader Nick Gullatta and fellow rookie competitors John Long, Jay Niewiek, and Colin Nickolai.

This event has attracted a lot of outside talent that will compete against the best CRA drivers Saturday including Ross Kenseth, the son of NASCAR competitor Matt Kenseth, who picked up a series victory at Winchester in May. Top Wisconsin competitors Tim Schendel and Blake Brown are entered, as is Alabama’s Stanley Smith, Oklahoma’s Donnie Wilson, Iowa’s Griffin McGrath, Illinois’s Michael Bilderback, Missouri’s Tony Jackson and Mike Slone, and Ohio’s Tyler Nuckles, Jared Marks and Mike Rush. Two former top ASA Racing Series competitors Robbie Pyle and Dave Sensiba are also entered. Former series Champion Chuck Barnes Jr. from Louisville, Kentucky will make his first series start of the 2010 season Saturday. To date there are 41 cars pre-entered for Saturday’s event.

Also competing at ORP Saturday will be the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series in a 50 lap feature. This will be the third event that series has had at ORP. Mark Lambert and Gabe Cerny have both gotten series wins at ORP. So far this season the series has had nine different winners in the nine events held to date. 2009 series Champion Charlie Hanna comes into Saturday’s event with a 73 point lead in season points to date, in his quest to become the first two time series Champion. Keith Sterkowitz is in second place in points, Jason Atkinson is third, Al Cook Jr. is in fourth and Lambert is in fifth place. Lambert plans to make his CRA Super Series debut Saturday. A strong group of Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series competitors is expected for Saturday’s event.

Advanced tickets for the Welch & Wilson Motorsports Rock N Race 100 Presented by Gas America can be purchased at Gas America stores that are with in 50 miles of Indianapolis or online at www.shopgasamerica.com. All fans, 18 & older, that purchase a ticket for the event are eligible to win a new 2011 Ford Fiesta that will be given away that night, the car giveaway is presented by Meals on Wheels of Hancock County, who will benefit from all ticket sales for the event. Several competing teams are also selling advanced tickets, as is On Track Ministries.

Pits will open on Saturday at 10am. Practice will begin at 1pm. The parking lots will open and the tailgate party will begin at 2pm. Spectator gates will open at 4pm. Qualifying will begin at 4:30pm. The race program will begin at 7pm with any last chance races. The features will follow and will include the 50 lap Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series feature, the Baker Engineering 30 Presented by Pro Cam for the USA Modified Series and the Welch & Wilson Motorsports Rock N Race 100 Presented by Gas America for the CRA Super Series.
