CRA to be Well
Represented in Salem Speedway’s Halloween 200 Sunday
Salem, IN (October 22, 2010) –
Champion Racing Association will be well represented in this Sunday’s
22nd Annual Halloween 200 at Salem Speedway. This huge end
of year Street Stock event has grown into one of the biggest Street
Stock events in the country, paying the winner $5000. The event starts
everyone who enters by a blind draw and they are lined up three wide
for the initial start.
The #73 CRA Street Stock owned by New
Castle’s Danny Acrey is entered and will be driven by Howe Late Model
Sportsman Series competitor Jason Atkinson. Jeff Lane drove the car in
the majority of the events this season, Acrey finished second in owner
points to 2010 Owner Champion Rich Boyer, the 2004 Halloween 200
winner. Atkinson got behind the wheel of the #73 at Mt. Lawn Speedway
in June and came away with a win. The #21 car owned by New Castle’s
Steve Davis is entered and will be driven by Calvin Parham, who has
finished second in the Halloween 200 twice. Steve Christman drove the
#21 car during the season to a third place finish in CRA owner’s
points and Christman was the 2010 CRA Street Stocks Driver Champion.
Sixth place points finisher Brian
Hopkins is entered, he finished second in the 2008 Halloween 200. The
#17 Scott Neal owned car is entered. Neal and Calvin Parham drove the
car during the season, but CRA Managing Partner R.J. Scott will be
behind the wheel on Sunday. This will be Scott’s 20th
Halloween 200. Two time 2010 CRA Street Stock winner Josh Poore is
entered along with Jason Thompson who won the Season Championship
event at Winchester Speedway last Saturday.
Other CRA Street Stock drivers
entered include the #31 of Jason Williams, the #12 of Kyle Hadley and
the #86 of Shawn Smith. CRA Late Model Sportsman Series competitor
John Heck is entered in his own #4 Street Stock.
CRA Tech Inspector Jeff Chew won the
first Halloween 200 in 1989. Chuck Barnes Sr. will be trying for his
fourth straight victory in the event and his eighth overall. Barnes
Sr.’s Crew Chief is 2004 CRA Super Series Champion Chuck Barnes Jr.,
who won the 2002 Halloween 200.
There will be an open practice on
Saturday, pits open at 10am with practice from 12 to 4pm. Practice
begins on Sunday at 10am with the Halloween 200 beginning at 1pm.
