All Systems Go for
the Annual North-South Shootout
Race To Take Place Later On This Week
The eighth annual 109 U-Pull It John Blewett III Memorial
North-South ShootoutTM has taken center stage among the brethren of
the short track racing community. With the cars and stars from both
the open-wheel and full-fendered ranks preparing for the annual
event, the buzz has spread from east to Midwest. Teams scheduled to
compete in the North-South Shootout on November 5&6 hail from New
England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South
Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas, Kansas,
Michigan, and more.
After seven successful years, the North-South Shootout had earned a
reputation as one of the most prestigious events in short track
racing. Since it’s inception in 2003, owner and promoter Charles
Kepley and his team have strived to ensure that the North-South
Shootout is the best-of-the-best in short track auto racing.
For the second straight year, the North-South Shootout will feature
the best of both worlds as a contingent of Super Late Models, led by
the Champion Racing Association (CRA) Super Series, will join the
headlining Tour-Type Modifieds. Support divisions will include the
SK-Type Modifieds, an equally as competitive and tenacious brand of
open-wheel racing, the USA Modifieds, Vintage Modifieds, and Vintage
Sportsman.
Fans traveling to the Charlotte, NC, area to watch their local
favorites compete on the ultra-fast half-mile tri-oval at Concord
Speedway in Concord, NC, have the opportunity to book rooms at
discounted rates (while supplies last). C&C Racing Promotions,
owners of the North-South Shootout, have worked with the Cabarrus
County Chamber and Visitors Bureau to secure room blocks at
discounted rates at a number of at local hotels. A complete listing

Advance tickets are currently on sale for the 109 U-Pull It John
Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout and can be purchased

336.442.4317. For the 2010 event, the traditional commemorative
collectible tickets depict the Modifieds of George Brunnhoelzl III,
James Civali, Matt Hirschman, Burt Myers, Jason Myers, and Ryan
Preece. The beautiful four-color tickets include the likeness of the
SK-Type Modifieds of NASCAR National champion Keith Rocco and Ron
Yuhas, Jr. Super Late Model tickets include Ryan Blaney, Jeff Fultz,
Scott Hantz, and Johnny VanDoorn. The USA Modifieds, who are making
their inaugural visit to the North-South Shootout, are represented
on the collectible tickets by Scott Tomasik and Brian Nester.
On Friday, November 5, qualifying will be held for all divisions.
Time trials will be run for the Tour-Type Modifieds, Super Late
Models, SK-Type Modifieds and the USA Modifieds followed by heat
races for all divisions. The 125-lap events for Tour-Type Modifieds
and the Super Late Models will highlight the activities on Saturday,
November 6. The 50-lap feature for the SK-Type Modifieds and USA
Modifieds along with the Vintage divisions will also compete in
feature action on Saturday.
