Niewiek Earns
Cometic Gasket Hardcharger Award
Salem, IN (October 22, 2010) –
Perfect Circle Racecars Rookie of the Year competitor Jay Niewiek has
earned the 2010 Cometic Gasket Hardcharger Award for the just
completed 2010 CRA Super Series season. Niewiek gained 104 positions
during the season,
including
gaining 28 positions in last Sunday’s 39th Annual
Winchester 400 Presented by EDCO Welding & Hydraulics at Winchester
Speedway, which earned him that event’s Lane Automotive/ISKY Racing
Cams Hardcharger Award as well as a Hoosier Racing Tire Performance
Award.
Niewiek gained his 104 positions in
just ten events, he missed the first two events of the season. Niewiek
averaged 10 gained positions per event. This was the 17 year olds
first season in a full size stock car, he finished 10th in
CRA Super Series season points and 3rd in Perfect Circle
Racecars Rookie of the Year standings.
Fellow rookie competitor Colin
Nickolai came in second with 90 gained positions in 12 series events
this season including gaining 21 positions in the Winchester 400. CRA
veteran Jason Dietsch came in third place with 78 gained positions
including 14 gained positions in the Winchester 400. John Long
finished in fourth place with 32 gained positions. Jim Crabtree Jr.
was fifth with 21 gained positions.
Cometic Gasket, the Official Gasket
of the CRA Super Series, will award a $500 cash bonus to Niewiek at
the 2010 Champion Racing Association Awards Banquet. A driver had to
be in the top 15 in series points to be eligible for that award.
