Mingus signs sponsorship deal with Tennessee 811 and Kentucky 811
Call 811 before you dig is the message that racecar driver Mason
Mingus will be delivering this season to thousands of race fans.
Mingus and the Kevin Gardner race team recently announced that
Tennessee 811 and Kentucky 811 have become sponsors of their #98
Super Late Model.
“We are
extremely
pleased to be associated with both Tennessee 811 and Kentucky
811,” Mingus said in announcing the new sponsorship. “I’m excited
to promote underground damage prevention in all the areas we run
in and we look forward to helping present their important
message.”
Mingus’ team has ties in both Tennessee and Kentucky. He and his
family live in Brentwood, TN while his car owner Kevin Gardner is
based in Louisville, KY.
“We appreciate all the work of Tennessee 811 Executive Director
Bill Turner in helping us secure this sponsorship,” Mingus
commented. “This sponsorship will truly be a team effort from all
sides.”
Tennessee 811 and Kentucky 811 were established to help prevent
underground utility damage by allowing a one-call system that can
inform contractors and individuals if underground utilities are in
the area in which they plan to dig.
Each year millions of dollars in
property damage, personal injuries, even loss of life occur because
of careless digging, boring and blasting when underground facilities
were not located prior to excavating. With each passing year, more
and more lines are being installed and the problems increase for
everyone involved.
Digging can be an expensive,
dangerous venture. Underground facilities are extremely vulnerable
to damage during any type of excavating.
It is now possible to call 811 to reach the call center and
request utility locations from every member company in the
proximity of the proposed dig site.
“It’s going to be easy and enjoyable to deliver a message that we
believe in,” Mingus said. “ Their mission statement is ‘to provide
the best communication and notification service to prevent damage
to underground utilities’. And how they do that is the message we
will be delivering through our racing operation.”
Mingus is racing in selected CRA Super Series events during the
2010 season.
