Jay Niewiek to
Compete for CRA Super Series Rookie of the Year Honors
Salem, IN (March 29, 2010) –
16-year-old Jay Niewiek, with Jay Niewiek Motorsports, has announced
that he will compete with the CRA Super Series in 2010
with
the goal of being the 2010 Perfect Circle Racecars Rookie of the Year.
The Cutlerville, Michigan native recently purchased a template late
model from 2002 CRA Super Series Rookie of the Year Andy Ponstein. The
Ford bodied car has a Perfect Circle Racecars Chassis with a
McGunegill Engine Performance Sealed Motor.
Niewiek finished second in the
Pennzoil Cup Series points to veteran Michigan driver Dave Sensiba in
the Area Racing Grand Rapids 2009 season, which just concluded last
Saturday night. Niewiek has also raced in Legend Cars for Bishop
Performance out of the Detroit area. This will be his first experience
in a full size racecar, but he will have plenty of experience helping
him this season including former ASA legend Bob Senneker and veteran
Michigan racer Tom Blouw. The team will utilize the Bluebird’s number
84 on their car this season.
Niewiek is a junior at South
Christian High School in Cutlerville were he must maintain an A or B
average to keep racing per his mother. Sponsors for Jay Niewiek
Motorsports for the 2010 season include Cordes Trucking out of Byron
Center, Michigan. Also Ford with rotating dealer’s names on the car
from the area of each series race. Also Coca-Cola recently signed on
as a sponsor.
