Family Fun Day This Sunday at Winchester Speedway

Winchester, IN (July 13, 2010) – Family Fun Day at Winchester Speedway will be this Sunday featuring three divisions of racing action with the USA Modified Series, Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts all competing in one program on the historic High Banks. There will also be bike races for the kids! Adult General Admission tickets will only be $10 at the gate for adults, students 13 to 18 are $5, kids 12 and under are free. Randolph County residents and HARF and DARF members can get in for only $5 with proper I.D.

The USA Modified Series will make their first appearance of the 2010 season at Winchester on Sunday. Veteran competitors Bud Perry, Brain Nester and Brad Springer all took victories in the three series events at Winchester during the 2009 season. Springer comes into this weekend’s event as the series point’s leader by only one point over Bob Curry. Corey Kruzel is third in series points, he is only eight points behind Curry. Steve Curry is fourth in series points, 14 points behind Kruzel. Kyle Jones is in fifth place, he is just six points behind Steve Curry.

Berlin Raceway regular Mike Bursley was the USA Modified Series last winner on July 3rd at Berlin Raceway. He was the sixth different winner in the series six events so far this season. Other event winners so far this season include Kyle Jones, Matt Marlowe, Mike Brooks, Andy Bozell and Tony Dager. The series will also compete at Winchester Speedway at the Labor Day World Stock Car Festival and in the Run For The Gun on Winchester 400 Weekend.

The Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series will also make its first appearance of the 2010 season at Winchester Speedway on Sunday. 2009 series Champion Charlie Hanna comes into Sunday as the series point’s leader by 18 points over Jason Atkinson. Keith Sterkowitz is third in points, he is 33 points behind Atkinson. Al Cook Jr. is fourth in points, he is only one point behind Sterkowitz. Steve Stacy is fifth in series points, 26 points behind Cook Jr. There have been five different series winners in the five events so far this season. Winners include Hanna, Sterkowitz, Cook Jr., Eric Evans and Steve Minich Jr. at the series last event on July 2nd at Angola Motor Speedway.

The Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts will also be on hand Sunday. 2009 series Champion Tim Dilg comes in as the series point’s leader after six events so far this season, Jess Drook is in second place in series points. CRA FWD Compacts Winchester winners so far this season include Kevin Claborn on May 16th and Mark Mason on May 23rd.

Pit gates will open on Sunday at 8:30am. Practice begins at 10:30am with qualifying at 12:15pm. The race program will begin at 2pm and will include a 50 lap feature for the USA Modified Series, a 40 lap feature for the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and a 20-lap feature for the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts along with heat races for all three divisions.
