Car Owner, Sponsor and Track Owner Dick Poe Passes Away
Ft. Wayne, IN (July 18, 2010)
– CRA Super Series car owner, sponsor and track owner Dick Poe of
Angola, Indiana passed away Saturday morning at his home in Angola.
Poe had been ill the past several months. Poe was 74 years old and is
survived by his wife Jackie Poe of Angola, Indiana, his son and
daughter-in-law Greg and Jennifer Poe of Fort Wayne, Indiana, his
daughter and son-in-law Kim and Dave Daugherty of Angola, and his six
sisters and their husbands.

"Dick was a huge supporter of the CRA
Super Series is many ways," remarked Series Director Glenn Luckett.
"Dick was a series car owner, a series sponsor and a track owner, and
supported the CRA Super Series with all three. He was a great person,
we will miss him very much! We would ask that everyone please keep
Dick’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they go
though this difficult time."
Dick was the owner of EMF Corp in
Angola, Indiana, a longtime sponsor of the CRA Super Series with the
EMF Corp That’s Racing Award, which awards a cash bonus to an
unfortunate series racer at each series event. He was the owner of
Angola Motor Speedway, which has hosted 15 CRA Super Series events
since the 1998 season, the second year of the series.
He was also the owner of Richard Poe
Motorsports with driver Scott Hantz, who has competed full-time with
the CRA Super Series since the 2000 season when the team captured the
series Championship and Hantz received Rookie of the Year honors, the
only team to win both in the same season. The team has gone on to hold
almost every performance record with the series including most
Championships with three and most series wins with 27. Hantz is also a
one of the leading competitors in regional Outlaw Super Late Model
events every season.
The arrangements for Dick are as
follows:
Visitation at Weicht Funeral Home in
Angola will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm. The
funeral service will be held at Weicht Funeral Home on Wednesday at
11am.
