Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Return to
Anderson Speedway Saturday
Salem, IN (July 27, 2010) – The
Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series will return to compete at
Anderson Speedway this Saturday, July 31st. It will be the
third of three events the series will have on the “World’s Fastest
High-Banked Quarter Mile Oval” during the 2010 season. Saturday’s
event will be the ninth time the series has competed at Anderson
Speedway since the series began in 2006.
In the initial
series event of 2010 at Anderson on May 15th, Fort Wayne
driver
Al Cook Jr. held off a determined pack of cars with five laps
remaining to claim the victory in the Anderson 75. Cook led the entire
distance and held off 2006 series Champion Keith Sterkowitz for the
final 32 laps. In the second series event on June 26th
Charlie Hanna got the lead after contact between leader Joe Beaver and
second place Wes Russell Jr. caused a yellow sending both cars to the
rear on lap 43. The 2009 series Champion then cruised to the win while
Mark Lambert made an outside pass of John Heck on the white flag lap
to claim second.
Hanna comes into
Saturday’s event with a 39 point lead over second place Jason
Atkinson. Sterkowitz is in third place, he is 21 points behind
Atkinson. Cook Jr. is in fourth place, he is 19 points behind
Sterkowitz. Lambert is fifth in points, 27 points behind Cook Jr. So
far this season the series has had six different winners in six
events. Rick Rinehart got the series last win at Winchester Speedway
on July 18th. Other winners include Cook Jr. and Hanna at
Anderson, Sterkowitz at Plymouth Speedway, Steve Minich Jr. at Angola
Motor Speedway and Eric Evans at Mt. Lawn Speedway.
Pit gates open on
Saturday at 3pm with practice beginning at 4:30pm. Qualifying will
begin at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm and will include
the 75 lap feature for the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series. Also
racing that night will be Anderson’s FWD Figure 8 cars, Street Stocks
