Howe CRA Late
Model Sportsman Return to Plymouth Speedway Saturday
Salem, IN (August 25, 2010) –
The Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series will return to compete at
Plymouth Speedway this Saturday August 28th. It will be the
second of two
series
events that track has hosted during the 2010 season. Saturday’s event
will be the sixth time the series has competed at Plymouth Speedway
since the series began in 2006.
In the series season opener at
Plymouth, part of the Cabin Fever 200 in April, 2006 series Champion
Keith Sterkowitz picked up his first ever series win. Sterkowitz moved
from his tenth place starting position to pass local hero Brian Ross
on lap 41 for the lead. Joe Beaver would challenge Sterkowitz for
several laps, but was unable to make the pass as Sterkowitz took the
win. Beaver finished in second, Al Cook Jr. was third, local hot show
Derrick Griffin was fourth and Plymouth native Steve Stacy finished in
fifth place.
2009 Series Champion Charlie Hanna
comes into Saturday’s event with 66 point
leader over second place Jason Atkinson in the series 2010
Championship points. Atkinson has a slim three point lead over third
place Sterkowitz. Al Cook Jr. is currently fourth in series points, he
is 25 points behind Sterkowitz. Mark Lambert is fifth in points, 25
points behind Cook Jr. There are five events left to decide the series
Championship.
To date the series has seven
different winners in the series seven events so far this season.
Rookie Brett Robinson got his first ever stock car win in the series
last event on July 31st at Anderson Speedway. Other winners
this season include Sterkowitz, Cook Jr., Hanna, Eric Evans, Steve
Minich Jr. and Rick Rinehart.
Pit gates open on Saturday at 2pm
with practice beginning at 3:30pm. Qualifying will begin at 5:30pm.
The race program will begin at 7pm and will include the 75 lap feature
for the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series. More event information
