NASCAR’s David Stremme
Announces Minimum Three-Race Schedule with CRA Super Series
Salem, IN (April 7, 2010) –
Champion Racing Association officials announced today that NASCAR
Nextel Cup Series competitor David Stremme released a schedule of at
least three CRA Super Series events during the 2010 season, with
possible additional events to be added at a later date. Stremme
committed to competing in the Mid
Summer
Championship 200 on July 11th at Plymouth Speedway, the
Redbud 300 on July 26th at Anderson Speedway and in the 39th
Annual Winchester 400 on October 16th at Winchester
Speedway in his own David Stremme Racing late model.
Stremme, who raced full-time in the
NASCAR Nextel Cup Series for Roger Penske last season, will make his
third Cup start of the 2010 season with owner Bill Jenkins in the #26
Air National Guard Ford in this weekend’s Subway Fresh Fit 600 at
Phoenix International Speedway after strong runs at Bristol and
Martinsville for Jenkins.
"I'm really looking forward to
getting back and racing more events with CRA in 2010," remarked
Stremme. "It’s a great series, with great racers and great race
tracks...and at the end of the day it’s just a lot of fun! We plan to
fit the CRA events around the NASCAR Cup and Nationwide commitments we
have this year."
Stremme is a former CRA Super Series
regular competitor prior to his ascension to the NASCAR ranks, but has
returned to compete in several events over the past three years. The
South Bend, Indiana native has three CRA victories to his credit.
Stremme got his first series win in 1999 at Salem Speedway.
Stremme added, "We've been fortunate
to win a couple of big CRA races in the last couple of years, with the
Mid Summer Championship 200 at Plymouth last year and the Winchester
400 the year before. I had a little fun with Kyle Busch after his
Winchester 400 victory this past season, telling him his victory was a
little hollow since the reigning event winner wasn't in it...I'll give
him another shot at trying to beat me at the 400 this year!"
Stremme raced many times at
Winchester Speedway during the development of his career while racing
with the CRA Super Series and the American Speed Association. Stremme
is also a former track record holder at Winchester, which occurred on
his first ever attempt to qualify on the famous High Banks on
September 7th, 1998. He finished fourth in that race, his
first ever CRA Super Series event. Stremme is a long time friend of
Winchester Speedway owner Charlie Shaw, who helped Stremme in his
early days of late model racing.
"The victories in the Winchester 400
are so special because in most other major events you have to beat a
great field, but at Winchester you have to beat a great field AND an
awesome race track!" added Stremme.
