Salem, IN (September 18, 2009)
– Champion Racing Association officials announced today that the CRA
Super Series will be sanctioning a 125 lap Super Late Model non-points
event with the North-South Shootout Modified event at Concord Speedway
in Concord, North Carolina on Friday, November 6th and
Saturday, November 7th. This is the 7th year for
the event, promoted by C & C Promotions. The highly anticipated event
will also be the first ever CRA sanctioned event in North Carolina.
"We were very
honored
when Charles Kepley, with C & C promotions, contacted us about coming
down and handling the Super Late Model portion of the event," remarked
R.J. Scott, Managing Partner of Champion Racing Association. "Charles
is extremely focused on taking care of the racers and fans, that is
evident in the reputation this event has, and that's why we were so
thrilled when asked us to be a part of it."
The North-South Shoot 125 Presented
by WearCrete Diamond Concrete Polishing will use CRA Super Series
rules and procedures, with some event specific guidelines that will
make the event very entertaining. The event will pay $5000 to win and
$800 to start, along with several bonuses for different types of Super
Late Models and the highest finishing drivers in various Super Late
Model Series including CRA, PASS, the Blizzard Series and a group made
up of any Super Late Model drivers from any other series or track.
The top five qualifiers will be
locked into the event, which will start straight up, with the Fast
Qualifier winning a $250 bonus from WearCrete Racing. Positions sixth
through 20th will come from qualifying heats, positions 21st
and 22nd will come from a last chance race. Positions 23
through 26 will be provisional starters using the Guaranteed Starters
first, then the next cars finishing in the last chance race.
"Our Super Late Model portion of the
North-South Shootout will be very much like the modified portion, in
that it will feature the best Super Late Models from all over the
country competing in the heart of racing country in North Carolina,"
remarked Glenn Luckett, Managing Partner of Champion Racing
Association. "Because of the reputation of this event, all the eyes in
the racing world will be focused on the racing at Concord Speedway
that weekend. We greatly appreciate Curtis Venable with WearCrete
Diamond Concrete Polishing and WearCrete Racing coming on board to
help sponsor this great event!"
The event will have several
Guaranteed Starters including the September 12th James
Garrison Memorial winner Shane Sawyer, also the winner of the final
Five Flags Speedway Blizzard event winner on September 25th,
the winner of the CRA Super Series event at Berlin Raceway on October
10th, the winner of the CRA Super Series Winchester 400 on
October 18th, the winner of the CRA Super Series All
American 400 event in Nashville on November 1st, and the
2009 CRA Super Series Points Champion.
An additional Guaranteed Starter will
come from the earliest entry that does not qualify for the event, so
teams need to get their paid entries in as quick as possible to be
eligible for this position! All Guaranteed Starters must make a
legitimate attempt to qualify by all means posted before they can use
a provisional start.
"With the bonus monies posted for the
different groups, and the commitment to the guaranteed starters the
promoter has made, we expect to see the best from everywhere,"
remarked Eddie Chew, Tech Director for the CRA Super Series. "People
familiar with the event have already said that a good showing by the
Super Late Models during the event, can easily lead to even bigger and
better things in the future."
The event will be 125 green flag
laps. It will be a six tire maximum event with teams required to make
at least one pit stop after lap 25 and before lap 100. During that
stop, teams will be required to at least jack-up the right side of the
car completely off the ground.
