CRA Super Series and CRA FWD Compacts at Baer Field Speedway Saturday

Salem, IN (September 16, 2009) – The CRA Super Series and Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts with be in action this Saturday at Baer Field Speedway in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The event will also include racing action from the HOSS Winged Outlaw Sprint cars.

Saturday’s SCS Environmental 100 Presented By Klotz Synthetic Lubricants for the CRA Super Series will be the 13th series event held at Baer Field Speedway. Three time series Champion Scott Hantz is the series all time winner at that track with four wins including last season’s event he won over Jason Dietsch and Jeff Lane. Eddie Hoffman is second in series wins at Baer Field with two, Chuck Barnes Jr., Larry Zent, Brian Ross, Junior Hanley, JR Roahrig and Jeff Lane all have one victory a piece.

Saturday’s event for the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts will be the fourth series event held at Baer Field Speedway. There have been three different series winners at Baer Field including Bill Charles on May 25th of this year. Greg De St. Jean and Randy Owen have also been series winners at Baer Field Speedway.

Johnny VanDoorn comes into Saturday’s event with a 56 point lead over second place Hantz with only three point events left on the CRA Super Series 2009 schedule. Hantz lost a lot of ground at the series last event on Labor Day when the lapped car of Damon Ecoff blew a right front tire just as the first place running Hantz went to lap him. Ecoff’s car shot straight to the wall collecting Hantz, the damage ended the day for both cars. VanDoorn, the 2007 series Rookie of the Year, is seeking his first series Championship and the first series Championship for his Kaos Motorsports team.

2009 series Rookie of the Year Aaron Pierce is currently third in series points, he is 28 points behind Hantz. Veteran Rick Turner is fourth, he is 21 points behind Pierce. Terry Fisher Jr. is fifth in series points, he is 55 points behind Turner. Tyler Roahrig is sixth in series points and is currently leading the series K & N Filters Rookie of the Year Standings, he is only 20 points behind Fisher Jr.

Tim Dilg has been the point’s leader with the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts through out the 2009 season. Dilg comes into Saturday’s event with a big lead over 2008 series Champion Rex Zimmerman in second. Rookie Justin Brown has now moved up to third place in the series standings with Brian Redmond fourth and rookie Jeff Williams in fifth place.

Pit gates open for Saturday’s event at 1:30pm. Practice will begin at 3:30pm with qualifying starting at 6:10pm. The racing action will begin at 7:30pm and will include 8 lap heats for the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts, the SCS Environmental 100 Presented By Klotz Synthetic Lubricants for the CRA Super Series and a 20 lap feature for the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts. The HOSS Winged Sprint Cars will have heat races and a 40 lap feature. There will be an open practice on Friday from 5 to 9pm.
