St. Judes Children's Hospital Benefits from Huge Crowd for CRA Super Series Event at Plymouth Speedway Sunday Night

Plymouth, IN (July 13, 2009) -  Race fans will remember the great crowd on hand to see the CRA Super Series event at Plymouth Speedway this past Sunday night, won by NASCAR Cup Star David Stremme won, but many others will also remember the money that was collected for St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.

Track co-owner Tom Smith, along with promotional help for US 99's Ramblin Ray Stevens, organized a "pass the helmet" fundraising effort in the crowd on Sunday night.  Drivers went through the stands with their helmets in hand to collect money for St. Judes.  The fans and drivers raised almost $1000 dollars, with Plymouth Speedway donating the difference to make the donation an even $1000.

Smith has been a big supporter of St. Judes Children's Hospital, and continues to support them through the fund raising efforts led by Radio Personality Ramblin' Ray Stevens.  In the days leading up to the CRA Super Series Event on Sunday Night at Plymouth Speedway, Stevens brought Stremme on the air to promote the race and, at the same time, generate exposure for the Hospital.  By the time the race came on Sunday night, the fans were ready to give to the charity that is so special to the Plymouth Speedway, Stevens and Stremme.

"It was obviously special to me that we had a great crowd that night" Smith noted, "but its even more special that we could use the night to raise money, with Ramblin Ray and David Stremme's help, for a great organization like St. Judes Children's Hospital."
