CRA Super Series To
Return To the High Banks Of Salem Speedway In 2009
Salem, IN, (January 5, 2009) –
The CRA Super Series will return to Salem Speedway again in 2009, the
series returned to compete there in 2008 after a four-year absence.
The Hoosier Hills 100 will take place on the .555-mile High Banked
oval on Saturday, June 27th as part of the 63rd
year of racing at that historic facility. A total of 21 CRA Super
Series events have been contested at Salem since Kenny Tweedy won a
100-lap race there in May of 1997, the second event in the series
inaugural season.

Last year Jeff Lane scored a victory
in the Hoosier Hills 100, passing rookie Zach Taylor on a restart on
lap 50. Lane would get the win over Taylor with 2008 series Champion
Scott Hantz finishing third, Rick Turner fourth and Tweedy fifth. Also
last season at Salem, Chuck Barnes Jr. returned to make a rare series
start and got the victory in the JayC Food Stores 100 after passing
early leader JR Roahrig on lap 38. Taylor would finish second again
with John VanDoorn in third, Keith Gardner in fourth and Hantz in
fifth place.
Brian Ross and Junior Hanley are tied
with the most series wins at Salem Speedway with four wins apiece,
while Tweedy, Lane and Matt Hagans are tied for third with two wins
apiece. There are seven drivers who have gotten one win including
NASCAR Sprint Cup driver David Stremme. The rest of the impressive
list of one-time winners at Salem includes Barnes Jr., Chet Fillip,
Jim Cooper, Dave Jackson, Bull Baker and Peter Cozzolino.
