Hogan Returns to Home Track for Speedfest 2009

Cleveland, GA (January 20, 2009) - With the winter frost still hitting much of the Southeast, one would think that it’s nowhere near racing season, but in Braselton, Georgia that’s exactly the case as Speedfest 2008 will invade Lanier National Speedway for the first time ever on Saturday, January 24th and 25th. With that being said, nearby resident Jason Hogan will take full advantage of such a big event coming to his home track. Hogan will compete in the double header weekend in both the Georgia Asphalt Series pro late model sanctioned event as well as the CRA sanctioned super late model race on Sunday afternoon.

"This will be the biggest event that has come to Lanier in a while so it’s been something I have really looked forward to for quite some time. Whenever you have any kind of event at your home track it’s something to get excited about, but when it pays what this one does it’s like icing on the cake," noted Hogan.

In 2008 Hogan showed critics that he still knew the quick way around the 3/8th mile racetrack winning in his one and only super late model star at the speedway. Jason led a majority of the laps, easily winning the 100 lap event in September in a dominating fashion over the competition which has left many considering the Hogan racing team as heavy favorites for an early 2009 victory. However, unlike in September, cold weather and grip will play a major factor in the driver who will come out on top of the first major late model racing event of the year.

"It was nice to take a break from the whole racing scene and enjoy the holidays with family and friends, but just like every year when you start to see the big boys get ready for Daytona you start to get antsy and can’t wait to get back in the car. I know for me personally, starting off at Lanier will put a lot of expectations on my shoulders, not so much from everyone else but the expectation I put on myself," added Hogan.

Speedfest 2009 will kick off at the Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Georgia on Saturday January 24th with practice and qualifying taking place at 1pm and 5pm. The following day thirty-two race cars will take the green flag at 2pm.
