"Rattler 250" to be possible $25,000-to-Win Event in
2010
Officials release
details of higher purse than previously announced with less than 50
cars for this year
(Opp, AL) -
The 33rd annual Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway has
not even been run yet, and officials have already announced a possible
increase in the Winner’s Check for the 34th annual event.
Promoter John Dykes stated today that any Super Late Model driver that
is part of a 50+ car field this year will be eligible for a $5000
bonus if he/she wins the following year, as long as there is another
50+ car field.
Officials also
announced that while the $20,000 to win purse for this year is based
on
50 cars, missing that 50 car figure by a few cars won’t significantly
cut the purse. For every car under the 50-car bench mark the winner’s
share will only drop $1,000, to a minimum of $10,000 to win with 40
cars trying to make the race. Based on the pre-registration list, the
50-car benchmark should not be a problem, and this year’s winner
should take home $20,000+ in cash and possibly over $25,000 in cash
and other awards.
The Dykes family is
putting the finishing touches on many improvements around the Opp,
Alabama facility, including a new pit lane, a new backstretch wall and
an additional pit area. Track officials also want to clarify that
teams are NOT required to purchase pit stall parking, but those that
do choose to reserve in advance will have a specific guaranteed spot.
Those that do not reserve a pit stall will be placed in one on a first
come first served basis. The track has over 80 paved pit stalls
outside the track.
