Salem, IN (December 1, 2009) -
Officials from Champion Racing Association (CRA) and John and Sandra
Dykes, owners of South Alabama Speedway, recently announced that CRA
officials will again be providing support in the areas of race
control, procedures, scoring and technical inspection for the 34th
Annual "Rattler 250" March 5-7, 2010.
The Speedway is making it possible
for one Super Late Model driver to take home over $30,000 in cash and
prizes if 50 Super Late Models are part of racing that weekend.
Drivers are encouraged to register to race in the event as soon as
possible. To ensure speedy responses from the teams, Speedway
officials announced that qualifying order will be the reverse order
that paid entries are received, thus, the sooner teams enter, the
later they will be in the qualifying order.
The "Rattler 250" has a long history
of great drivers and great winners, with a past champions list that
includes Dave Mader, Ronnie Sanders (only 3 time winner), the late
Charlie Bradberry, Jason Hogan, Grant Enfinger and two time winner and
reigning champion Augie Grill.
The Speedway also announced increased
purses for 2010, regardless of car count. If 50 cars enter and attempt
to make the race, track officials are posting a great purse of
$20,000-to-win, plus bonuses. A $5000 bonus will go to the winner if
there are 50 cars entered and he/she raced in last year’s race ($2500
if there are less than 50). Another $2500 in lap money has been posted
as well as a $1000 "Fast Qualifier and Win Bonus," a $1000 "Start from
the Rear and Win Challenge," a $1500 ARP Bodies Certificate (Package
"A" Body) for the winner, $250 Cash and a $500 Certificate from ARP
Bodies for Fast Qualifier, $250 Halfway Leader Bonus, plus other
awards to still be announced.
The "Rattler 250" will use United
Super Late Model Rules Alliance technical rules for the Super Late
Models which are the same rules used by the Snowball Derby, Blizzard
Series and CRA.. The Snowball Derby’s Ricky Brooks will serve as Chief
Technical Inspector for the race, with CRA Chief Technical Inspector
Eddie Chew to serve in a support role for Brooks. CRA officials Glenn
Luckett, R. J. Scott and Greg Wood will again work in race control and
scoring. For more information about Rattler 250 weekend be sure to
