Jackson Looks To CRA Super Series in 2009

April 28, 2009 (Cincinnati, OH) - Danny Jackson, a Cincinnati native, has decided to race a limited schedule in the CRA Super Series Late Model tour for 2009.  Jackson will make his 2009 track debut at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville in the Budweiser All American 150 this weekend.  For the last two seasons Jackson has raced in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series finishing 13^th (2007) and 18^th (2008) in the overall point standings.

“We are going to run a limited schedule unless we connect with a sponsor.  I want to continue racing since it is my passion, but I can’t run a full schedule without sponsorship,” Jackson said.  Jackson’s father, Dave Jackson who is a former ASA and CRA driver, owns the #5 orange Chevrolet Monte Carlo which Jackson will handle in the CRA Series.  Jackson also owns a USA Racing Series car, formerly known as the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series.  “I would like to return to the USA Racing Series as well, but without sponsorships, I don’t think that is an option,” Jackson said.

The CRA Series is a Midwestern touring series for Super Late Model stock cars.  The series races on tracks less than ½ mile and are typically 125 laps of wall to wall racing.  Tracks include Winchester Speedway (IN), Music City Motorplex at the Fairgrounds in Nashville (TN), Salem Speedway (IN), and Toledo Speedway (OH) just to name a few.  NASCAR drivers such as Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader are among the best that have driven in the CRA Series.

Jackson spent the beginning of the winter season getting both cars ready in case a sponsorship came on board.  Once those cars were ready to go, Jackson spent his spare time at the local RC Car track in Cincinnati.  “It’s fun and it gives me something to do when I am not working on the race cars.  Plus it still provides me with that rush of competition on a track,” Jackson explained.  Jackson built a RC car which looks identical to his orange #5 machine.
