At Berlin Up Next For CRA Super Series
Salem, IN (September 8, 2008)
– The CRA Super Series is ready to head to Berlin Raceway in Marne,
Michigan for this weekends Boyne At Berlin Weekend and the Boyne At
Berlin 125 that will pay the winner a cool $10,000, the highest paying
non-pit stop event on the 2008 schedule. Saturday’s event will be the
seventh time the series has competed at Berlin, Fred Campbell has the
most series wins at that track
with
three, Scott Hantz, Ross Meeuwsen, and Tim Curry all have one victory
a piece.
"We always look forward to going to
race at Berlin," remarked Glenn Luckett, CRA Super Series Director.
"It is one of the premier short tracks in the country, with great fans
who really enjoy good racing. There is always a bunch of Michigan
drivers who come race with us at Berlin and they are tough, it always
makes for a great race. We appreciate Michael Blackmer and everyone at
Boyne Machine for letting us be a part of this great weekend and for
putting up a great purse for our racers!"
Battle Creek, Michigan veteran Fred
Campbell used his years of experience at Berlin Raceway to capture
last year’s series event at Berlin. The ten-time track champion at the
tricky oval let John VanDoorn, from Coopersville, lead the first 104
laps, then used his better tires to reel in VanDoorn and pass for the
lead on lap 105 and then cruised to a six second victory. Campbell is
tied with Eddie Hoffman for sixth in all time series victories with
seven. VanDoorn, held on to finish in second with Chris Anthony in
third, Alec Carl in fourth and Brian Campbell in fifth. The entire top
five were all local competitors, having competed at some time at
Berlin Raceway in regular Saturday night racing, showing how much
experience matters in competing there. Scott Hantz finished in sixth,
the highest finishing non-Michigan native in the event.
Hantz, the two time series Champion,
comes into this weekend’s event in first place in series points with
five victories on the season. Hantz holds a 67-point lead over veteran
Rick Turner with just three point events left in the 2008 season. Both
are entered for this weekend’s event along with third place in points

Jr., seventh place Zach Taylor, eighth place Aaron Pierce, ninth place
