Anderson Speedway
Truck and Street Stock Teams Head to Legendary O’Reilly Raceway Park
Teams to have Key Role
in the Inaugural "Circle Track Classic" on Saturday, September 20th
ORP Truck Rules
Anderson, IN
(September 12, 2008) – One of the most unique events in Anderson
Speedway history is scheduled to take place September 20th…but
its not taking place at Anderson Speedway. In an effort to show unity
in short-track racing in central Indiana, Anderson Speedway teamed up
with the officials of Champion Racing Association (CRA) to serve as
promotional partners in the Inaugural "Circle Track Classic" at
O’Reilly Raceway Park (ORP) in Indianapolis.
Anderson Speedway
points will be awarded to Anderson Speedway Truck and Street Stock
teams that participate in the highly anticipated, high profile racing
event in the city long acknowledged as "The Capitol of Racing." The
Anderson Speedway teams will be key parts of the 4-division show that
features the CRA Super Series Late Models, the Howe/CRA Sportsman, the
CRA Street Stocks, and the Super Truck Challenge. The Super Late
Models will run a 100-Lap feature, with the other divisions battling
in 50-lap features.
"Anderson Speedway
teams and fans routinely acknowledge that we race weekly at one of the
most historic facilities in America, and its great for them to get a
chance to experience another one of Indiana’s racing jewels in
O’Reilly Raceway Park," noted Anderson Speedway President Rick Dawson.
"Through our participation with CRA, we encourage our teams and our
stock car fans to be part of this very special race in Indianapolis."
The September 20th
date at ORP presents a rare opportunity for central Indiana short
track race fans to see their local hero’s take center stage at a
facility normally reserved for the national stars. The date is even
more special, as there are no conflicting stock car events at Anderson
Speedway, Winchester Speedway, Mt. Lawn Speedway and many other area
tracks.
"The choice is really
easy for race fans on this weekend," commented CRA Managing Partner
Glenn Luckett. "Coordinating the open date with area race tracks is a
tremendous benefit to area racers and fans. It certainly gives
everyone a chance to be recognized at a very important racing event in
the Midwest."
ORP will host an open practice for
all teams from 5 to 9 on Friday night, September 19th. On
the following day, official activities for the Inaugural "Circle Track
Classic" will begin with gates opening at 10am, practice at 12:30,
qualifying at 4pm and racing at 7pm. For more information about the
