Six Former Winners Top
CRA Super Series Impressive All American Entry List

Salem, IN (October 22, 2008) –
Six former winners of the famed All American 400 event at the Music
City Motorplex at the Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee top the list
of 45 early entries for the Adam Petty Memorial All American 400 CRA
event coming up on Saturday, November 1st. Florida’s Wayne
Anderson will venture to Nashville to compete in his first All
American event sanctioned by the CRA
Super Series. Anderson was a winner of the All American 400 twice,
once in 1996 and again in 1999 when the event was a true 400-lap
race.
Anderson was competing with the old NASCAR All Pro Series at that
time, and was one of the top late model drivers in the country.
Anderson has cut back on his traveling the past several years, but is
still racing in Florida late model events and still finding victory
lane often.
Other former event winners entered
for this year’s All American event include the 2004 winner Chuck
Barnes Jr., who has returned to competing part-time in selected series
events this season including getting a victory in the August 9th
series event at Salem Speedway. 2005 winner Jason Hogan is entered and
will do double duty competing in the companion ASA Southeast Series
200 lap event, Hogan has won three ASA Southeast events in a row
heading into next weeks events. 2006 winner Boris Jurkovic is entered,
Jurkovic competed full-time with CRA in 2008 finishing third in points
with two wins, one at Illiana Motor Speedway and one at Plymouth
Speedway. 2007 winner John VanDoorn has also entered, VanDoorn has had
an up and down season in 2008 finding victory lane once with the
series at Toledo Speedway and finishing sixth in points. All four of
these drivers will be seeking their second Copley Guitar Trophy.
Another driver entered who has found
victory lane on three occasions in Nashville with the ASA Late Model
Series, including the 2005 All American event, is Illinois veteran
Eddie Hoffman, but he is
still seeking his first win with CRA at the
Music City Motorplex. Hoffman was the ASA Late Model Series Northern
Champion this past season scoring three victories with the North
Series and one victory with the Challenge Series. Hoffman will also do
double duty, like always at Nashville, competing in the ASA Southeast
Series 200 lap event.
Several drivers who have won other
CRA sanctioned events at Nashville are entered including 2008 CRA
Super Series Champion Scott Hantz, who won the All American 150 in
July 20th on his way to scoring five series victories and
getting his record breaking third series Championship. Nathan Haseleu
is entered, he won the 2007 All American 150 in Nashville in a
memorable event were he raced side by side with Josh Vadnais for
several laps before pulling out the win.
Fast
Eddie Mercer is also entered, he won the All American 150 in 2006.
Kyle Busch Motorsports has entered
Alex Haase in the event, it will be Haase’s first CRA event, he is
currently leading the points in the PASS South Series and scored his
third series victory of the season this past Saturday. David Stremme
Racing has entered Travis Sauter in the Nashville event, it will also
be Sauter’s first CRA event. Sauter is the son of Tim Sauter of the
famed Wisconsin racing family, his uncles are Johnny and Jay, and his
grandfather was former NASCAR driver Jim Sauter.
14-year-old Logan Ruffin of
Brentwood, Tennessee has filed an entry. Ruffin competed in last years
ASA Late Model Series event in Nashville and was the Speed Weeks Crate
Late Model Champion in at New Smyrna Speedway last February. Ruffin
was also featured in Sports Illustrated this past summer. 16 year
old
Johanna Long is entered to make her second start at Nashville after
competing in July’s All American 150 were she was running in the top
10 until a late race incident ended her day. Long won the Five Flags
Speedway Pro Late Model Title this season, then won the Pro Late Model
feature at Mobile Speedway the following night. She finished 12th
in the September CRA event at ORP. Former All American 400 two-time
winner Freddie Query has been coaching Long in her late model events
this season.
Former NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
and NASCAR All Pro Series competitor Scot Walters has filed an entry.
Walters has been racing mostly around his home in Naples, Florida
recently, helping David Wilson in his racing career. Fellow Florida
driver Ryan Crane has also entered, Crane was victorious in the July 5th
ASA Southeast event at the Music City Motorplex, and finished second
to Hantz in the July 20th CRA All American 150, earning a
guaranteed start in next weeks event. Mike Garvey, another former two
time All American 400 winner, will be the Crew Chief for Crane.
Other top
late model drivers entered
include veteran Florida drivers Justin Drawdy and Scott Carlson,
Minnesota hot shoe’s Jake Ryan and Rockford Short Track Nationals
winner Josh Vadnais, North Carolina’s Dennis Schoenfeld, Tennessee’s
Gary Helton and Tony Ponkauskas, Alabama’s Stanley Smith Johnny
Brazier and Josh Bolen, Bill Elliott Development Driver Mitch Cobb
from Colorado, Okalahoma’s Donnie Wilson, Nebraska’s Josh Krug,
Wisconsin’s Josh Bauer, Canadian Modified ace Steve Arpin, and former
Salem Speedway Multi-time Champion Keith Gardner. Top CRA veterans
Jeff Lane, Kenny Tweedy, Jack Landis, Terry Fisher Jr., Eddie VanMeter
and 2007 CRA Super Series Champion Chris Gabehart, are entered along
with top CRA rookie competitors Aaron Pierce, Hartsville, Tennessee
native Zach Taylor and Robert Maynor.
This Friday, October 24th
is the last day teams can file a discounted advanced entry for the CRA
Super Series All American 400 event. After Friday teams will be
charged an additional $50 for a late entry fee. Teams can contact the
CRA office at 812-883-0455 to get entry information.
There will be an open practice at the
Music City Motorplex on Thursday, October 30th, pit gates
will open at 11am Central Time, practice will run from 3pm until 8pm.
On Friday, October 31st pit gates open at 11am, teams will
practice beginning at 3pm, there will be a concert at 6:30pm followed
by All American qualifying beginning at 7pm. Last Chance Races will be
held after qualifying. Pits open on Saturday, November 1st
at 8:30am, there will be an on track autograph session beginning at
11:30am, the Adam Petty Memorial All American 400 event will begin at
1pm with the 200 lap ASA Southeast event, which will be followed by
the 200 lap CRA Super Series event.
