Centennial
Wireless To Sponsor July CRA Super Series Events
Salem, IN (May 14, 2008) – The
month of July will be Centennial Wireless month with the CRA Super
Series as series officials and Centennial Wireless management have
announced that Centennial Wireless will be a Presenting Sponsor of the
Hargus Mullins Memorial 125 series event on Thursday, July 3rd
at Angola Motor Speedway in Angola, Indiana and the Mid-Summer
Championship 200 on Sunday, July 13th at Plymouth Speedway
in Plymouth, Indiana.
"Centennial Wireless is pleased to
continue its support and
partnership
with the CRA Super Series," said Phil Laux, Senior Vice President of
Marketing of Centennial Wireless. "We look forward to working with the
two racetracks involved with this promotion and seeing all the great
race fans at both events!"
Both the early July events will be
big events on the 2008 CRA Super Series schedule. The traditional July
4th weekend event at Angola Motor Speedway has been a main
stay of the series for several seasons. The July 3rd Hargus
Mullins Memorial 125 Presented By EMF Corp and Centennial Wireless
will be the 13th series event at the highly competitive
3/8-mile high-banked oval owned by Angola business man Dick Poe, also
the owner of series sponsor EMF Corporation and the Dick Poe
Motorsports two time CRA Super Series Championship winning team with
driver Scott Hantz, who started off the 2008 season with a victory in
the
series season opener at Winchester Speedway on April 27th.
In last season’s exciting event 1997
series Champion Brian Rievley saved the best for the end, running
second for much of the race, battling brake problems, before passing
Jack Landis in turn four on the 117th lap to win the Hargus Mullins
Memorial 125 presented by EMF Corp. and Centennial Wireless in front
of one of the largest crowds of the season at Angola Motor
Speedway. Landis finished right behind Rievley in second. Jeff Lane
was third, early race leader, John Van Doorn fourth, Jason Dietsch
fifth while Scott Hantz drove through the field after an early spin to
finish sixth. Less than one second separated Landis and Hantz as the
pack of cars raced for the checkered flag.
The July 13th Mid-Summer
Championship Presented By Centennial Wireless will be the first series
points event at Plymouth Speedway since 2002 when Scott Hantz claimed
his third victory at
Plymouth
in the four series events held up to that point at that 3/8 mile speed
plant. The series had a special non-points event their during the 2006
season, the first season for new track owners Bob Blount and Tom Smith
who have made vast improvements to the facility over the past two
seasons. Series veteran JR Roahrig won that special 100-lap non-points
event in 2006. Jack Landis chased Roahrig through out the event but
had to settle for second. Former Illiana Motor Speedway Champions Mike
White and John Nutley finished third and fourth with Hantz finishing
fifth.
The multi-lap July 13th
event will attract the best CRA Super Series drivers along with the
best late model drivers from the Chicagoland area including Eddie
Hoffman Dave Weltmeyer, Nathan Haseleu and Pat Kelly. The event will
be ran the day after the Chicago NASCAR Sprint Cup event, the track
management does expect a least a couple of NASCAR drivers to stop by
and compete in the Mid-Summer Championship 200 Presented By Centennial
Wireless.
