Open Wheel Racer
Aaron Pierce To Go Stock Car Racing With CRA Super Series
Salem, IN (March 3, 2008) –
Open wheel racer Aaron Pierce has decided to go stock car racing with
the CRA Super Series for the 2008 racing season. Pierce will be
competing for the series Rookie Of
The
Year honors and the 2008 Season Points Championship for long-time
series car owner Ken Muller and the Muller Motorsports Team out of
Indianapolis, Indiana. The team will have legendary Crew Chief Bill
Rievley turning the wrenches. Muller Motorsports has competed with the
CRA Super Series for several seasons mostly with Eddie Van Meter up
until June of last season and 1998 series Champion Brian Rievley who
took the team to victory lane last season in the series event at
Angola Motor Speedway.
"I’m really looking forward to racing
with the CRA Super Series this year," remarked Pierce. " I have raced
open wheel cars for several years with only a hand full of starts in a
stock car, but with Ken Muller’s equipment and Bill Rievley’s help, I
don’t think it will take us long to be competitive!"
Pierce made his late model debut with
the Muller Motorsports team in January’s SpeedFest event at USA
International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida. Pierce was very
impressive in his first late model starts including racing for several
laps with veteran Eddie Hoffman right on his tail in the North
qualifying race on the first day of SpeedFest. Pierce was coming back
through the field of that race after going to the rear after a spin
caused by contact from another racecar had sent him to the tail of the
field, when he was caught up in an accident that ended his night.
Pierce was working his way through
the field of the NOS Energy Drink 200, on day two of SpeedFest 2008,
when more bad luck struck when he was caught up in a massive wreck on
lap 117 when a front running car lost power on a restart. Pierce’s day
was done with the car suffering too much damage to continue, but the
driver had gained some valuable experience to get ready for his run
with the
CRA
Super Series in 2008.
Pierce currently works for the Bob
Bondurant School Of Performance Driving located in Phoenix, Arizona.
Pierce has been working at the school for three years while pursuing a
career in open wheel racing. Pierce’s open wheel career began in 1999
in a USAC Midget were he won a Rookie Of The Year title. Pierce raced
Midgets for a couple of seasons with 2001 being his best season with
13 total victories in various events before moving up to USAC Sprint
Cars and HOSS Wing Sprint Cars in 2002. He won his first USAC Sprint
Car event that season as well as six races with HOSS Wing Sprint Cars.
Pierce continued to race Sprint cars
while also moving up to compete with the USAC Silver Crown division in
2004
when
he was Rookie Of The Year in that series. Pierce had two wins with the
newly designed Silver Crown Series in 2006 while finishing third in
series points and wining the series Most Improved Driver Award. In
2007 Pierce went to victory lane at the famed Darlington Raceway in
the Silver Crown Series and finished ninth in series points. Pierce
has competed several times in the prestigious Little 500 Sprint Car
event at Anderson Speedway, he finished second in 2004, sat on the
pole in 2006, and has led 114 laps of that event. Pierce did make
three starts in the Hooters Pro Cup Series in 2005, suffering
mechanical problems in all three races.
The former Muncie, Indiana resident
will have sponsorship for the 2008 season from Bob Bondurant School Of
Performance Driving, Sam Pierce Chevrolet, Longs Excavating, Valvoline,
Eagle One and Muller Waste Sales. Pierce will make selected open wheel
starts during the season at events that do not conflict with the CRA
Super Series schedule.
