CRA Super Series
To Celebrate Fathers Day At Anderson Speedway
Salem, IN (June 11, 2008) –
The CRA Super Series will be celebrating Fathers Day with a special
event this Sunday at Anderson Speedway. The event is a make-up event
from the originally scheduled April 12th event that was
postponed because of weather. The famous high-banked quarter mile
racetrack located in Anderson, Indiana has hosted more CRA Super
Series events than
any
other track since the series first ever event on Saturday, April 26,
1997. Anderson Speedway has had a total of 43 CRA Super Series events
to date. Former two time series champion Brian Ross is the all-time
series victory leader at Anderson Speedway with nine victories.
Three former series Champions head a
list of talented drivers entered for Saturday’s Ivy Tech 125 Presented
By Great Deals including 1997 Champion Kenny Tweedy and 1998 Champion
Brian Rievley, both racing cars for long time series car owner Ken
Muller and his Muller Motorsports Team with long time late model guru
Bill Rievley turning the wrenches on both cars. Tweedy is second in
series all time wins at Anderson Speedway with four while Rievley has
been to victory lane with the series at Anderson Speedway one time and
was the 1997 Anderson Speedway Late Model Champion.
Two time series Champion, and current
series points leader Scott Hantz has also entered this weekend’s
event, he also has one series victory at Anderson Speedway. Hantz
started off the 2008 season with two consecutive series victories at
Winchester Speedway and at Baer Field Speedway. Hantz is in pursuit of
Brian Ross’s all-time series victory total of 22 wins, Hantz has 20 to
date.
2006 series Driver Champion Jeff Lane
is entered, Lane has two series victories at Anderson Speedway, and
got the victory in this past Saturday’s series event at Salem
Speedway, he is currently in third place in series points. Other
former Anderson series winners entered include series veteran Rick
Turner, 2007 CRA Super Series rookie of the year John VanDoorn and
former Street Stock Champion at Anderson Speedway and winner of the
Anderson 400 in 2001 Bull Baker who has switched to number 15 driving
for Jay Seal instead of his familiar number 78 he has campaigned for
several seasons with the series.

Other top series regulars entered for
Sunday’s event include Jason Dietsch who is second in series points,
veteran JR Roahrig who is sixth in points, Terry Fisher Jr. eighth in
points, Boris Jurkovic ninth in points, Jason Shively, Sean Matthuis,
Rich Segvich and part-time series competitor Mike Kugler will make his
first Anderson start.
Zach Taylor leads a very impressive
rookie class entered for Sunday’s event. Taylor is the current leader
in the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year points and has been the K & N
Filters Rookie Of The Race Award winner for all three series events
this season. Taylor drives for the Great Deals Racing Team owned by
Anderson businessman Jim Mougeotte and his currently fourth in overall
series points and got a second place finish at last Saturday’s event
at Salem Speedway, which was his best series finish to date.
Muncie, Indiana native Aaron Pierce
is currently second in K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year points and
tenth in overall series points. Pierce is known more for his open
wheel racing in the Anderson area including several starts in the
prestigious Little 500 Sprint Car event held each season at Anderson
Speedway. Other rookie drivers entered include Robert Maynor, Tommy
Cook, Adam Purdy, and Anderson native Donald Karr Jr.
Four drivers are set to make their
CRA Super Series debuts in Sunday’s event. Brandon Fagin, a former
Howe CRA Sportsman competitor will make his series debut with his #8
U.S. Army sponsored car that he recently purchased from CRA competitor
John Heck. Current Howe CRA Sportsman rookie competitor Nick Lay will
make his CRA Super Series debut on Sunday. Lay is currently sixth in
Sportsman points and has been the Holley Fast Qualifier twice this
season including the series season opener at Anderson Speedway. Lay
will have veteran racer and Crew Chief Tim Neal turning the wrenches
on his car Sunday. David Flynn will also make his first ever series
start coming from Seymour, Tennessee and Mishawaka, Indiana native Jim
Brown will driver a Segvich team car.
Pits will open on
Sunday at 1pm, practice will begin at 3pm, qualifying at 4:45pm. The
Fathers Day race program will begin at 6pm with the CRA Super Series
