CRA Street Stocks Ready For 200 Lap Event at Anderson Speedway On Saturday

Salem, IN (June 10, 2008) – The CRA Street Stocks are ready for their 200-lap event at Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, Indiana this Saturday, June 14th. This will be the first of two shows for the CRA Street Stocks at The World’s Fastest High-Banked Quarter Mile Oval this season. The event will pit the best competitors with the CRA Street Stocks against the best competitors with the Anderson Speedway Street Stocks and will pay the winner $2,500.

CRA Street Stocks have had four events at Anderson Speedway since the 2006 season. In 2006 Rich Boyer won the season opening 250 lap event and the mid season 150 lap event. In 2007 Bret Miles Jr. won a 75 lap event while Calvin Parham took the victory in the Bud Light 150 helping car owner Steve Davis capture the 2007 series Owners Championship.

Two time and defending CRA Street Stock Drivers Champion Joe Beaver comes into this weekend’s event with a narrow one point lead in the season standings over teenager Winston Wood. The Noblesville, Indiana veteran won the series 100 lap event earlier this season at Winchester Speedway and is currently the point’s leader with the Ed Martin Automotive Group SuperTrucks division at Anderson Speedway. Beaver has several Championships and numerous wins at Anderson Speedway, but has not gotten a win with the CRA Street Stocks at Anderson Speedway.

Young Winston Wood from Bloomington, Indiana has really come into his own this season. Wood got a sixth place finish in the series season opener at Winchester Speedway. He followed that up with a fourth place finish in the 100 lap event at Winchester, then battled Bret Miles Jr. for the win at the Baer Field Speedway event before having to settle for second place, his best ever feature finish with the series.

Brian Hopkins is currently third in series points, only five behind Beaver. Larry Matillo is fourth, only one point behind Hopkins. Bret Miles Jr. rounds out the top five and is only 10 points out of first place, making it a very tight points battle so far in 2008. 2007 Anderson Speedway Street Stock Champion Jacob Owens is currently six in series points with series Rookie competitor Josh Burton in seventh, Carl Muffley in eighth with his season opening victory with the series at Winchester, Jeff Perry is ninth and Pat O’Connor tenth.

Jake McElfresh is the current points leader with the Anderson Speedway Street Stock Division. Jeff Perry is only four points behind in second while Ronnie Rose is only five points behind in third. Katie Jackson is currently fourth with Rob Allman in fifth place. Rose is coming off back-to-back feature wins in the Street Stock division. McElfresh, Jackson and Allman all have one victory so far this season with the Street Stocks at Anderson Speedway.

Pit gates will open at 4pm on Saturday. Practice will begin at 5pm with qualifying at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm with Heat Races for the Anderson Speedway SuperTrucks and FWD Pro’s. The 40-lap SuperTruck feature and FWD Pro’s 20-lap feature will then take place. The CRA Street Stock 200 will be the final event of the night. The race will run in two 100-lap segments with a 10-minute break for teams to work on their cars in between the 100 lap segments.
