CRA Super Series Ready
To Compete At Toledo Speedway

One Of 30 Entries To Date
Salem, IN (July 28, 2008) –
The CRA Super Series is ready to compete at Toledo Speedway in the
Crown Online 100 this coming Friday night. That event will be the
series only event in the state of Ohio this season. The series has had
a total of nine events on the ˝ mile banked track owned by local
businessman Roy Mott and Ron Drager, President of ARCA. Canadian
Motorsports Hall Of Fame competitor Junior Hanley leads the series
with two victories at Toledo, there are seven others with one victory
a piece including Scott Hantz, Jeff Lane, Chris Gabehart,
Fred
Campbell, Joel Kauffman, Harold Fair Jr. and Johnny Belott III.
There are currently 30 cars
pre-entered for Friday’s event led by current CRA Super Series points
leader Scott Hantz who leads the series in victories this season with
four including the series last event on July 20th at the
Music City Motorplex in Nashville, Tennessee. Hantz is looking to
break a tie with Brian Ross with the most series victories ever with
22. Hantz also competes at Toledo Speedway on occasion in an Outlaw
Late Model in which he has also seen victory lane there.
Other top series drivers entered
include second in points Boris Jurkovic, who has two series victories
so far this season and third place in points Rick Turner, who has one
series victory this season. Also entered are former Toledo winner Jeff
Lane, Jason Dietsch, who won a Super Pro Series event at Toledo
earlier this season, Jason Shively, Terry Fisher Jr., J.R. Roahrig,
John VanDoorn, who won an Outlaw Late Model event at Toledo last
season, Kenny Tweedy, Sean Matthuis, Rich Segvich and Jack Landis,
winner of the Glass City 200 event at Toledo in 2006.
Aaron Pierce, the current leader in
the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year points, leads a strong group of
series rookie drivers entered including second in rookie points Zach
Taylor, also Robert Maynor, Adam Purdy, a former regular competitor at
Toledo Speedway and Tommy Cook.
The series will have plenty of
outside competition in the Crown Online 100 led by NASCAR
Nationwide
Series competitor David Stremme, who will take time out of his busy
schedule, that includes being a test driver for Penske Racing, to
compete in Friday’s event. Stremme is a former competitor and winner
with the CRA Super Series. Stremme is from South Bend, Indiana and
likes to support local racing whenever his schedule will allow it.
Stemme is rumored to be one of the possible candidates to replace Ryan
Newman in the #12 Penske Racing Cup ride for 2009.
Butler, Indiana native Brent Jack has
entered in what will be his third ever series event. Jack won an
Outlaw Late Model event earlier this season at Toledo Speedway.
Veteran Ohio racer Scott Baker is entered in his first series event of
the season. Famed Michigan racer Tim Curry is entered in his beautiful
#90 machine. Three drivers will be making there second starts ever
with the series on Friday including Michael Thayer, a regular Outlaw
Late Model competitor at Plymouth Speedway and Tyler Roahrig, 17 year
old son of series veteran JR Roahrig, who won his first ever Outlaw
Late Model event at Plymouth this past Saturday night, and Nick Lay, a
former competitor in the Howe CRA Sportsman Series.
Michigan native John Long is entered,
he won a USA Modified Series event at Toledo earlier this year, he
will try and make his first start of the season with the series after
having problems that kept him from competing in the series Plymouth
event. Canadian Rick Brown will come south of the border Friday to
compete in his first ever series event, making the trip from Bradford,
Ontario. A couple of part-time series competitors are also entered
including Cincinnati, Ohio veteran Jeep Pflum and Louisville,
Kentucky’s Jeff Berg, a former regular competitor in a late model on
the High Banks of Salem Speedway.
Pit gates will open on Friday at 1:30
pm with series practice beginning at 4pm. Qualifying will take place
at 6pm. The race program will begin at 7:30pm and will include the CRA
Super Series in the Crown Online 100. Additional information is
