Pierce Takes Over
Tight K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year Points Lead
Salem, IN (July 10, 2008) –
Aaron Pierce has taken over the lead in the K & N Filters Rookie Of
The Year points after six CRA Super Series events so far this season,
but fellow rookie Zach Taylor is still right on his tail in what looks
to be a great battle for the 2008 K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year
heading into Sunday’s Mid-Summer Championship 200 Presented By
Centennial Wireless, CRA Super Series event at Plymouth Speedway.
Taylor started the season off by
claiming the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Race in the first three
series events, but bad luck has suddenly reared its ugly head as
Taylor has had his last
three
races end early with mechanical problems opening the door for Pierce
to claim the rookie of the race award the last three series events
including last Thursday’s event at Angola Motor Speedway. In regular
series points Pierce is currently in seventh place while Taylor has
now dropped into a tenth place tie with John VanDoorn. In the K & N
Filters Rookie Of The Year points, were each participant gets to drop
their worst two finishes of the season, Pierce has 340 points to lead
with Taylor in second with 337 points.
Robert Maynor is currently third in K
& N Filters Rookie Of The Year points with 280 points with Adam Purdy
and Tommy Cook tied for fourth with 262 points apiece. Cook missed two
series events after having some minor surgery, but was back behind the
wheel at Angola and got a 13th place finish. Al Longtin is
in sixth place with 184 points and Donald Karr Jr. in seventh with 157
points, both those drivers are only competing in selected series
events.
The K & N Filters Rookie Of The Race
Award will go to the highest finishing registered rookie at each CRA
Super Series points event during the 2008 season and will consist of a
$100 cash bonus and a $25 Product Certificate. The highest finishing
registered rookie in the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year Standings
will receive the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year Award at the 2008
Champion Racing Association Awards Banquet which will include a $1000
cash bonus, a jacket and a $100 Product Certificate from K & N
Filters.
