Salem, IN (July 29, 2008) – The CRA Super Series and the management of South Georgia Motorsports Park are pleased to announce that the CRA Super Series will sanction the 1^st Annual Southern Slam 250, a 250 lap, $10,000 to win late model event that will take place on November 21^st, 22^nd and 23^rd at the South Georgia Motorsports Park located just outside of Valdosta, Georgia.

"We have been working with the new owners and management at South Georgia Motorsports Park since January about having a big late model event in November at their great complex," remarked R.J. Scott, Managing Partner with the CRA Super Series. "Plans have now been finalized and we are very excited to be a part of this great event that will continue the great tradition of the big late model events involving the best late model drivers from the North and the South that the CRA Super Series has been promoting for several years now. "

"We are really excited about this event," remarked Kim Wood, Vice President of Operations at South Georgia Motorsports Park. "We wanted to come up with some signature events that we can grow into yearly traditions and that’s what are plans are with the 1^st Annual Southern Slam 250!"

"This event gives us the opportunity to show racers from around the country the top notch facility we have here at SGMP," remarked Dennis Nixon, Speedway Manager of South Georgia Motorsports Park. "We wanted to do an event were we could take advantage of our weather and build a great race weekend when the majority of the country is not racing. We look forward to working with everyone at CRA in building this event into something great!"

The event will start on Friday, November 21 with an open practice and some local events that evening. Saturday will have practice and qualifying for the 1^st Annual Southern Slam 250. On Saturday evening there will be more local racing events and the Last Chance Races to fill out the line-up for the 1^st Annual Southern Slam 250. The 1st Annual Southern Slam 250 will take the green flag at 2pm on Sunday, November 23^rd.

The 1^st Annual Southern Slam 250 will feature live pit stops and super racing action with a 36 car starting field at the premier 1/2 mile D-shaped, progressive banked, asphalt track in the southeast. There will be a bonus package for the top finishing CRA Super Series competitors, the PASS Super Late Model Touring Series competitors, the Florida late model competitors and bonuses for other top late model competitors from all over the country.
