Salem, IN (July 23, 2008) – The CRA Street Stocks will head North this Saturday to Angola Motor Speedway for the first ever series event at the 3/8 mile banked oval owned by Angola businessman Dick Poe. The track has been a frequent stop for the CRA Super Series for several seasons and the Howe CRA Sportsman had there first ever event their on July 3^rd. The track has had extensive renovations done since 2005 and is now one of the nicest short track facilities in the state.

Two-time series Driver Champion Joe Beaver is the series points leader after five of the series scheduled 12 events for the 2008 season. Beaver hold a 23-point lead over Bret Miles Jr. Both Beaver and Miles Jr. have each been to victory lane once so far this season. Top series rookie competitor Josh Burton is currently third in series points, 13 points behind Miles Jr. Burton, a teammate of Beaver, got his first series victory in last Sunday’s series event at Winchester Speedway.

Carl Muffley is currently fourth in series points, 17 points behind Burton. Muffley was the winner of the season opener, he has competed with the Angola Motor Speedway Street Stocks a couple of times this season trying to get some experience before this Saturday’s event. Jacob Owens is currently fifth in series points, 10 points behind Muffley, he is still seeking his first victory of the 2008 season.

Several of the Angola Motor Speedway competitors are expected to compete in Saturday’s event, but they will have to use the series Hoosier Comanchee tires which is a lot different then the regular Hoosier 970’s they race on each week. The Anderson Speedway Street Stocks are off this Saturday, some of those regulars will also make the trip to Angola.

Pit gates open on Saturday at 3pm. Practice for the CRA Street Stocks will be at 4pm with qualifying at 6:15pm. The race program will begin at 7:30pm and will include 10 lap heat races and the Croxton & Roe Insurance 75 for the CRA Street Stocks.
