CRA Street Stocks Set To Return To Anderson Speedway On Saturday

Salem, IN (July 9, 2008) – The CRA Street Stocks are set to return to Anderson Speedway for this Saturday’s 75 lap feature event. The series was originally scheduled to compete at O’Reilly Raceway Park on Saturday, but the new owners of ARA canceled that event. Anderson Speedway owner Rick Dawson stepped in and scheduled an event in place of the canceled ORP event.

The series last event was the CRA Street Stock 200 at Anderson Speedway on Saturday, June 14th were a total of 49 cars signed in for the event and 45 cars took the opening green flag. Beau Mitchell jumped out to the early lead from the pole starting position but was pressured for 76 laps by CRA Super Series regular Jeff Lane before Lane drove past him on a restart to take the lead.  Lane then led until the scheduled 1/2 way break, with Mitchell close behind and Joe Beaver in third.

Following the break, the transmission on Lane's car locked up while they were lining cars up for the second 100 lap segment ending his night early. Mitchell took over the lead again and was chased by Beaver who came close several times but could not catch Mitchell to pass.  Mitchell cruised to the win, he is the series all time leading event winner. Carl Muffley finished third, Bret Miles, Jr. fourth and Josh Burton fifth as the last car on the lead lap.

Beaver heads into Saturday night’s event as the series point’s leader, the two-time series Drivers Champion has a 20 point lead over second place Bret Miles Jr. Brian Hopkins is one point behind Miles Jr. in third, Larry Matillo is 11 points behind Hopkins in fourth. Rookie Josh Burton is in fifth place, only five points behind Matillo. Winston Wood is sixth in points, Carl Muffley is seventh, Jacob Owens is eighth, Jeff Perry is ninth and Pat O’Connor is in tenth place.

Saturday’s event is a combination event with the Anderson Speedway Street Stocks, and counts as a point’s event for their division as well. Jeff Perry is currently leading the points at Anderson by 28 points over Ronnie Rose. Rob Allman is in third place, Katie Jackson is fourth with Jake McElfresh in fifth place.

Pit gates will open at 4pm Saturday, practice begins at 5pm with qualifying at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm and will include 10 lap heat races and a 75 lap feature for the CRA Street Stocks. The Anderson Speedway Ed Martin Auto Group Super Trucks will also be in action, Joe Beaver is also leading that division in points going into Saturday’s events.
