Tommy Cook Named
As The New Driver For Fehl Motorsports In 2008
Salem, IN (February 5, 2008) –
Fehl Motorsports has announced that Ft. Wayne racer Tommy Cook will
drive for the Ft. Wayne based CRA Super Series team for the upcoming
2008 race season.
Fehl
Motorsports, owned by Ft. Wayne businessman Floyd Fehl, has been a
mainstay of the CRA Super Series since its first season in 1997. Fehl
began his racing career in 1970 as a car owner and driver.
Floyd’s first racecar was a 1956 Ford #7 in the Hobby Stock class at
Baer Field Raceway in Fort Wayne. He continued to drive for himself
for the next five years. Floyd continued to be a car owner after he
stopped driving.
The Fehl Motorsports team debuted
with the CRA Super Series in its second ever event at Salem Speedway
on May 4th, 1997 were Royce Mason finished fourth. Mason
drove for the team through the 2000 season. Terry Fisher got behind
the wheel for the 2001 season
were he finished second in Rookie Of The Year points to Joel Kauffman.
Fisher would drive for the team through
the 2003 season. Bud Adams
drove for the team for most of the 2004 season before 1997 series
Champion Kenny Tweedy took over late that season and remained in the
car until late in the 2007 season. Fehl Motorsports has fielded a
second team on occasion at CRA Super Series events over the past
couple of seasons were Bud Adams, Bobby Fields and Zach Hulvey have
made starts.
Cook has made two previous starts
with the Fehl Motorsports team in the CRA Super Series, including a 19th
place finish in last seasons Winchester 400 after parking the car on
lap 333 with handling issues. Cook made a start with the series in
2004 at Baer Field Speedway in his own car finishing 14th
after being involved in an accident.
"I am really excited to be racing for
Fehl Motorsports in 2008," remarked Cook. "It has always been a dream
of mine to race for Floyd and to compete full-time with the CRA Super
Series. Now both dreams will come true this season. I look forward to
working with Floyd and competing for Rookie Of The Year honors and the
season Championship with the CRA Super Series!"
Cook was the 2007 Super Pro Late
Model
Champion, a crate motor touring series with events mostly in Michigan
and Northern Indiana. Cook got his early racing experience at Baer
Field Speedway where he won several Championships and feature events.
Cook also ventured to Angola Motor Speedway and the now closed Avilla
Motor Speedway in his early racing career. Since 2004 Cook has raced
mainly with the Super Pro Late Model Series and with the ASA Late
Model Series. In all Cook has recorded 79 feature wins since he
started racing.
