CRA Super Series Part
Of Berlin Raceway Schedule Again In 2009
Salem, IN (December 15, 2008)
– The CRA Super Series will return to Berlin Raceway located in Marne,
Michigan for an event again in 2009. Boyne Machine's Mike Blackmer
recently took over as the promoter of Berlin Raceway after numerous
seasons of being a car owner and sponsor at that illustrious racing
facility. The CRA Super Series had been a part of the Boyne At Berlin
event the past two seasons, in 2009 the series event will be held on
Saturday, August 8th. Blackmer has stated the event will be
a more than a regular series event with more details to be announced
in the near future. It will be the series
eighth
event at the challenging half-mile track.
"We are really excited to be back at
Berlin Raceway in 2009," remarked Glenn Luckett, CRA Super Series
Director. "We greatly appreciate Mike Blackmer for providing great
events the past two season’s, we look forward to working with him
again in his new capacity as the owner of Berlin Raceway. We always
have a great event at Berlin, there is a ton of local talent in the
area that always comes out for our events there!"
A familiar name was in the winner's
circle at this past seasons Boyne at Berlin 125, but it was not Fred
Campbell a three-time CRA Super Series winner at Berlin Raceway. This
time it was his son Brian Campbell who was a very popular winner in
front of his home track fans collecting the $10,000 first place payoff
for owner Mike Blackmer. Campbell ran out in front of the crowd of
cars that he navigated carefully to take the lead on the 95th lap over
Johnny VanDoorn and raced on to get the win. Scott Hantz finished
second, Robbie Pyle third, Chris Anthony fourth and Andy Ponstein
fifth.
With the win Campbell sent the Boyne
Machine Racing Team off with a bang, ending a long run as a very
successful team. Team owner Mike Blackmer decided to sell all his
racing operations after finalizing his deal to take over at Berlin
Raceway. Local businessman Mike Pursley purchased the entire template
racecar team owned by Blackmer and driven by Brian Campbell in the ASA
Late Model Series and CRA Super Series with plans to keep Campbell
racing again in 2009.
