South Georgia
Motorsports Park Announces Big January Late Model Event
Salem, IN (August 14, 2008) –
Just a little over two weeks after announcing the 1st
Annual Southern Slam 250 late model event in November, South Georgia
Motorsports Park has announced that it will host another big late
model event to kick off the 2009 racing season in January of 2009. The
event will take place at SGMP on January 23rd, 24th
and 25th and will be sanctioned by the CRA Super Series.
"We felt there was a need for a big
late model event at that time of year to get the
2009
racing season started," remarked Dennis Nixon, Speedway Manager of
South Georgia Motorsports Park. "This event falls into our plan of
developing signature events that will become yearly traditions for
racers from all over the country to come and enjoy the great racing
facility we have here at South Georgia Motorsports Park. We look
forward to working with the CRA Super Series to promote this huge
event."
"This event will give racers from the
north a chance to come south to escape the winter weather and race
during a time when they can’t at home," remarked R.J. Scott, Managing
Partner with the CRA Super Series. "Our goal is to help SGMP grow this
into a yearly racing event that will attract the best late model
drivers from all over the country. You couldn’t ask for a better
facility to host such an event!"
The 1st Annual Southern
Slam 250, a 250 lap, $10,000 to win late model event will take place
on November 21st, 22nd and 23rd at
the South Georgia Motorsports Park located just outside of Valdosta,
Georgia. That event will feature live pit stops and super racing
action with a 36 car starting field at the premier 1/2 mile D-shaped,
progressive banked, asphalt track in the southeast. There will be a
bonus package for the top finishing CRA Super Series competitors, the
PASS Super Late Model Touring Series competitors, the Florida late
