Pierce Leads Tight K &
N Filters Rookie Of The Year Points Battle
Salem, IN (August 22, 2008) –
Aaron Pierce holds a slim lead in the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year
points after 11 CRA Super Series events so far this season, but fellow
rookie Zach Taylor is still right on his tail in what looks to be a
great battle for the 2008 K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year for the
remaining four points events left on the 2008 series schedule which
will resume with the McGunegill Engine Performance 100 Presented By
The U.S. Army on Monday, September 1 at Winchester Speedway.
Pierce currently has 782 points in
the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year points, which allows each
competitor to drop their two worse finishes of the season. One of
those drops for Pierce is the series
last
event at Salem Speedway were he did not even get to attempt to qualify
after suffering engine problems during practice. Zach Taylor is
currently in second with 768 points, just 14 points behind Pierce.
Pierce has been the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Race in six series
events to date, while Taylor has captured that award at the other five
series events this season. Both drivers have had a season high finish
of second in an event this season with Taylor doing it twice at both
Salem events.
Robert Maynor is currently third in K
& N Filters Rookie Of The Year points with 640 points, Maynor got a
season best ninth place finish at Salem last weekend. Adam Purdy is in
fourth place with 612 points, he got his best ever series finish of
sixth also at the series last event at Salem. Tommy Cook is in fifth
place with 466 points followed by Donald Karr Jr., in sixth with 329
points, both of those drivers have not ran the full schedule of series
events this season.
The K & N Filters Rookie Of The Race
Award will go to the highest finishing registered rookie at each CRA
Super Series points event during the 2008 season and will consist of a
$100 cash bonus and a $25 Product Certificate. The highest finishing
registered rookie in the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year Standings
will receive the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Year Award at the 2008
Champion Racing Association Awards Banquet which will include a $1000
cash bonus, a jacket and a $100 Product Certificate from K & N
Filters.
