Former Series Champion
Chuck Barnes Jr. Enters Saturday’s Race At Salem
Salem, IN (August 14, 2008) –
Former CRA Super Series Champion Chuck Barnes Jr. has filed an entry
for this Saturday’s JayC Food Store 100 CRA Super Series event at
Salem Speedway. Barnes Jr. has not raced a lot lately, he made one
start with the series in 2007 driving a Jim Winters
owned
car to a fourth place finish at ORP, he had been working for Petty
Racing in North Carolina, but moved back home to Louisville to be
closer to his family in the spring. Most recently Barnes Jr. has spent
some time helping his father win the Frank Kimmel Street Stock event
at Kentucky Speedway in May and has been a crew chief for Jason
Shively in a couple of series events this season. Barnes Jr. also made
a start with the ASA Late Model Series on July 19th at
Salem Speedway subbing for Kris Stump.
"I’m excited about getting behind the
wheel again in a late model with the CRA Super Series," remarked
Barnes Jr. "This was kind of a last minute decision, but will be ready
for the show this Saturday. If everything goes well hopefully we can
race in some more races with the series later this year, especially
the bigger events in the fall!"
Barnes Jr. was the 2004 CRA Super
Series Champion and is the current one lap record holder for the
series at Salem Speedway. Barnes Jr. was the 2006 Salem Speedway Late
Model Champion, he has wins in three different divisions on the famous
High Banks. Barnes Jr. is seeking his first CRA Super Series victory
at Salem Speedway, his best finish there was a fifth in the 2004
event, he has a total of five series victories in his career including
the 2004 All American 400 win in Nashville.
Pit gates will open on Saturday at
1pm, practice will begin at 3:30pm, with qualifying at 5:30pm. The
race program will begin at 7pm and will include the JayC Food Stores
100 for the CRA Super Series. More information on Salem Speedway is
