CRA Super Series
Hopeful Mother Nature Lets The 2008 Season Begin On Sunday
Salem, IN (April 24, 2008) –
Officials from the CRA Super Series are hopeful that Mother Nature
will let their 2008 racing season begin in this Sunday’s rescheduled
Manning Service 100 at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana. The
event was originally scheduled for last Sunday, but was
postponed
because of persistent rain showers, just after practice had been
completed after drying the track from morning showers.
That was the third CRA Super Series
event so far this season that has been postponed because of weather,
the series opener on March 28th and then on March 29th
at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville was postponed because of
rain, it has since been rescheduled for Sunday, July 20th.
The series was then supposed to open at Anderson Speedway on April 12th,
but that event was postponed to Sunday, June 15th because
of cold weather and the threat of rain.
"The weather has been tough on us so
far this spring," remarked Glenn Luckett, Director of the CRA Super
Series. "It cost everyone money, the fans, the tracks, the teams and
the series. We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and
understanding so far this year, hopefully we can get things underway
this Sunday and have great weather the rest of the season!"
All 24 teams that showed up this past
Sunday are expected to return for this Sunday’s event. Joliet,
Illinois native Boris Jurkovic filed an entry this week for Sunday’s
event, the extra
week
allowed him time to get ready for this Sunday’s race. Jurkovic is also
now talking about possibly being a contender for the 2008 series
Championship.
Sunday will also be the season opener
for the CRA Street Stocks and the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD
Compacts. The CRA Street Stocks were originally scheduled to have a
special points event with Music City Motorplex Sportsman on March 28th
and then March 29th, but rain also canceled that event, it
was not been rescheduled. Sunday’s CRA Street Stock events will be a
tune-up for their 100-lap event on Sunday, May 4th that
will pay $2,500 to win and $100 to start.
Pit gates will open on Sunday, April
27 at 7:30am, spectator gates at 9:30 am with practice beginning at
10am. Qualifying will follow at 12:25pm. The race program will begin
at 2pm with heat races from the USAC National Sprint Cars and CRA
Street Stocks followed by the 30 lap Rich Vogler Classic for the USAC
National Sprint Cars, the Manning Service 100 for the CRA Super Series
late models, the MAX 40 for the CRA Street Stocks and the Vores
Welding & Steel 20 for the Vores Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts.
