HS Motorsports Special Release:
VANDOORN IS WHISTLIN' DIXIE AFTER WINNING THE DIXIE CLASSIC
150
John VanDoorn and the HS Motorsports team rolled into Dixie Motor
Speedway with one goal in mind: win the Outlaw Super Late Model
race in dominating fashion, like they did on June 15th, when John
started on the front row and lead every lap en route to his first
win for HS Motorsports. This time, VanDoorn had to work harder for
the win coming from his ninth starting spot.
John timed in 4th out of 32 cars, behind John Grega, Scott Hantz,
and John Doering Jr. The race was 150 laps with a ten minute break
after 75 laps. John started ninth and was second at the half way
point, right on the rear bumper of John Doering Jr.
Before
John came into the pits, he told the team on the radio what they
needed to work on, and when the cars headed to the pits, the team
went to work, which included changing two tires adding fuel as well
as some other adjustments.
John restarted second and was racing hard with Doering. The front
two were making their way through lapped traffic when John got
passed Doering coming out of turn two to take the lead. The race
was not over though as Doering got back to VanDoorn with about 14
laps to go. Once again, in lapped traffic on the front stretch,
Doering tried to get under VanDoorn and lost it, resulting in a
spin, putting Doering to the rear of the lead lapped cars. John
went on to old off John Grega, his co-worker at Port City Racecars,
for the win in the Dixie Classic 150, taking home the big check off
$6,000 and trophy.
How did VanDoorn celebrate the win? Last time he won at Dixie he
did donuts on the front stretch. This time he took the checkered
flag for a ride around Dixie, celebrating with the fans like he did
when he won his first race this season at Berlin.
Great job to the whole HS Motorsports team, notching win number 4
for the #16 car and John's 5th win of the year (his first win was in
the #71 family owned car).
Our next event will the CRA Super Series 36th Annual Winchester 400
on Sunday, October 14th.
