Salem, IN (October 8, 2007) – Valparaiso, Indiana native Greg De St. Jean leads the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts points heading into this Friday’s Season Championship event at Winchester Speedway as part of the opening night racing events of the 36th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend Presented By Ed Martin Auto Group and Renegade. De St. Jean holds a 15-point lead over Randy Owen in second place. The Anderson, Indiana native holds a 16-point lead over third place Bobby Sanders of McCordsville, Indiana. Indianapolis, Indiana native Derek Young is currently in fourth place, only eight points behind Sanders. Anderson’s Bill Leisure is in fifth place 68 points behind Sanders.

The top four in points all still have a chance to walk away with the inaugural Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts Season Championship with only a 39 point spread between first and fourth. Redmond came from the back of the lead lap cars on lap 69 to get the win, a win he dedicated to the Fire and Safety workers of Winchester Speedway, which Redmond is a part of when not racing.

Greg De St. Jean is the only driver with two feature victories so far this season, both at Winchester Speedway. Other drivers with victories at Winchester include Redmond, Matt Norem, A.J. Ridner, and Jordan Flynn. Randy Owen picked up a victory in the series event at Baer Field Speedway in May. In all 47 different drivers have participated with the series so far this season.

Greg De St. Jean, as the current points leader, will have the option along with Friday nights feature event pole sitter to go to the tail of the starting field to try and win the R & R Liquors Safe Driving Challenge Bonus, which has grown to $700 after not being claimed in the seasons six events so far at Winchester Speedway.

Pit gates open on Friday at 11am, with an Open Practice from 2 until 6pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will include two six-lap heats and a 20-lap feature for the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts.
