De St. Jean Leads
The Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts Points Heading Into
Friday’s Season Championship Event
Salem, IN (October 8, 2007) –
Valparaiso, Indiana native Greg De St. Jean leads the Vore’s Welding &
Steel CRA FWD Compacts points heading into this Friday’s Season
Championship event at Winchester Speedway as part of the opening night
racing events of the 36th Annual
Winchester
400 Weekend Presented By Ed Martin Auto Group and Renegade. De St.
Jean holds a 15-point lead over Randy Owen in second place. The
Anderson, Indiana native holds a 16-point lead over third place Bobby
Sanders of McCordsville, Indiana. Indianapolis, Indiana native Derek
Young is currently in fourth place, only eight points behind Sanders.
Anderson’s Bill Leisure is in fifth place 68 points behind Sanders.
The top four in points all still have
a chance to walk away with the inaugural Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA
FWD Compacts Season Championship with only a 39 point spread between
first and fourth. Brian Redmond was the winner of the series last
event, the Winchester 75 on September 16th, an event that
paid $1500 to win. Redmond came from the back of the lead lap cars on
lap 69 to get the win, a win he dedicated to the Fire and Safety
workers of Winchester Speedway, which Redmond is a part of when not
racing.
Greg De St. Jean is the only driver
with two feature victories so far this season, both at Winchester
Speedway. Other drivers with victories at Winchester include Redmond,
Matt Norem, A.J. Ridner, and Jordan Flynn. Randy Owen picked up a
victory in the series event at Baer Field Speedway in May. In all 47
different drivers have participated with the series so far this
season.
Greg De St. Jean, as the current
points leader, will have the option along with Friday nights feature
event pole sitter to go to the tail of the starting field to try and
win the R & R Liquors Safe Driving Challenge Bonus, which has grown to
$700 after not being claimed in the seasons six events so far at
Winchester Speedway.
Pit gates open on Friday at 11am,
with an Open Practice from 2 until 6pm. The race program will begin at
7pm and will include two six-lap heats and a 20-lap feature for the
Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts. More information on the 36th
