Familiar Names
Competing In ARCA RE/MAX Series Talladega Race Friday
Salem, IN (October 2, 2007) –
Several familiar names to fans of the CRA Super Series will be
competing in this Friday’s ARCA RE/MAX Series 250 lap event at
Talladega Super Speedway. There are a total of eight drivers entered
for Friday’s event that have raced previously with the CRA Super
Series, two have been winners at series sanctioned events.
Veteran racer Bill Baird is entered
in Friday’s event in the #52 Ken Schrader owned Dodge. Baird competed
in the very first CRA Super Series event on April 26, 1997 at Anderson
Speedway. Baird finished second that night to Brian Ross, the two-time
series champion and all time victory leader. Baird ran a handful of
series races that first season, then went on to run a year of ASA
before going to the ARCA RE/MAX Series full time and winning the 1999
ARCA Points Championship, the last winner since Frank Kimmel’s streak
of seven straight ARCA Championships.
Pensacola, Florida veteran Eddie
Mercer is entered in James Finch’s #09 Chevrolet. Mercer has become a
familiar face at the CRA Super Series events in Nashville, including
getting the win in the All American 150 in March of 2006, and was
third in last years All American 200 in November. Mercers recently
competed with the series in the Circle Track Nationals at ORP in The
100 were he finished in 15th after an early spin.
Josh Krug is entered in the #23 Wayne
Hixon Chevrolet, Krug has competed with the ARCA RE/MAX Series through
out the 2007 season, he is currently in 10th place in
points. Krug has competed in selected CRA Super Series events over the
past two seasons including the events in Nashville and the Circle
Track Nationals.
Dexter Bean is entered in the #6
David Bean Chevrolet, Bean is currently third in ARCA RE/MAX Series
points, were he has competed full-time the last two seasons. Bean
competed with the CRA Super Series in the National Short Track
Championships at Rockford Speedway in September of 2005.
18 year old Landon Cassill is entered
in the #87 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, Cassill is a develop driver
for Hendricks Motorsports were he has competed in selected ARCA and
NASCAR Busch Series events during the 2007 season. Cassill competed in
several CRA Super Series events during the 2005 season when he
finished 14th in series points. He competed in selected CRA
events during the 2006 season including a fourth place finish in the
All American 200 last November in Nashville.
Brian Scott is entered in the #32
Kevin Cywinski Chevrolet, Scott has competed in the 2006 CRA Super
Series events at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville under the
guidance of veteran late model racer Freddie Query. Scott will be
competing full-time next season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series,
he has also filed an entry for the upcoming 36th Annual
Winchester 400 Presented By Ed Martin Auto Group and Renegade at
Winchester Speedway on Sunday, October 14th.
Mario Gosselin is entered in his own
#12 Chevrolet. Mario won the south preliminary 100-lap event at the
CRA Super Series co-sanctioned Speedfest event at USA International
Speedway in Lakeland, Florida in 2005.
Chase Austin is entered in the #61
Rusty Wallace owned Dodge, Austin is a development driver with Rusty
Wallace Motorsports competing in selected events this season. Austin
competed in one CRA Super Series event, that was at Illiana Motor
Speedway in June of 2005 were he finished 21st after being
involved in an incident with Larry Schuler, at that time Austin was a
development driver for Rick Hendrick.
The Talladega ARCA REMAX Series 250
will be shown live on the Speed Channel starting at 5pm on Friday.
