To Be Well Represented At Snowball Derby This Weekend

Salem, IN (November 28, 2007)
– The CRA Super Series will be well represented in this weekend’s 40th
Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway. A strong group of
drivers with
CRA
Super Series ties are among the 68 cars entered for the December
Classic. 2007 CRA Super Series Champion Chris Gabehart and his
Hendricks County Motorsports team hope to cap off agreat 2007 season
with a win this weekend. Gabehart was the winner of the series big
$10,000 to win event with the Circle Track Nationals this past
September, an event Gabehart promoted with team owner Jim Winters.
2000 and 2006 CRA Super Series
Champion Scott Hantz will also be returning to Five Flags
Speedway
this weekend. Hantz finished third in this season’s points and was the
winner of the prestigious Winchester 400 in 2006. Hantz has made the
Snowball Derby an annual event for his Dick Poe Motorsports team the
past several years. Hantz will have some interesting help this
weekend. HS Motorsports team owner Tim Steele, the car owner for 2007
series rookie of the year and All American 400 winner John Van Doorn,
and his Crew Chief Chip Caputo will be assisting Scott Hantz in this
weekends event.
CRA Super Series veteran JR Roahrig
will make his first trip to compete in the Snowball with veteran Bob
Blount as his Crew Chief. Roahrig finished 11th in series
points in 2007. Roahrig has been a series regular for several seasons,
he did miss some events in 2007 while getting his son Tyler some
experience in a late model with the Super Pro Series.
In all there are 10 drivers entered
for the Snowball that have victories in a CRA Super Series sanctioned
event including the three drivers mentioned above. Other former
winners entered include Texan Ryan Lawler who was the winner of the
Winchester 400 this past October, his biggest win to date. North
Carolina native Jeff Fultz was a winner in the Labor Day Weekend
series event at Winchester Speedway this past season. Fultz also
competed in all three series Triple Crown events.
Michigan’s Brian Campbell,
Pensacola’s Eddie Mercer, Florida’s Wayne Anderson, Mike Fritts and
Justin Drawdy have all won a CRA Super Series sanctioned event. NASCAR
sensation Kyle Busch is also entered for this weekends events, he has
competed in three series sanctioned events including this past seasons
Winchester 400. In all 25 of the drivers entered have competed in a
series event in 2007 and 46 have competed in a series sanctioned event
sometime in the past three years.
Once again fans will be able to
follow this weekends racing action at Five Flags Speedway on
Speed51.com, the Official Web Site of the 40th Annual
Snowball Derby, this will be the fifth year that Speed51.com has
provide full coverage of the Snowball weekends events. There will be
daily reports from the track, up-to-date photos of practice,
qualifying and the race and recaps of the Snowflake 100 on Saturday,
December 1st and the Snowball Derby on Sunday, December 2nd.
For the first time ever, 51 will also be doing Trackside Now live from
the Snowball Derby for much of the race week.
