Pat Kelly - Latest Entry for Musgrave
Memorial Seven Illiana Track Champions Entered
Schererville, IN – Two-time track champion and
three-time Tony Bettenhausen 100 winner Pat Kelly is the latest entry
for the Champion Racing Association (CRA)-sanctioned 6th
annual Elmer Musgrave Memorial 100 presented by Texas Corral, set for
this Saturday night at Illiana Motor
Speedway.
“This was kind of a last minute decision to enter
the event as we’ve been trying to sort out a few handling problems on
the car, but I’m confident will have them all figured out for Saturday
night” said Kelly.
Larry Schuler, a long-time Illiana favorite and a
two-time track champion (1975 & 1976), has also filed a surprise
entry. Many fans remember Schuler driver the famous “Junkyard Dog” No.
30. Schuler, known for his late race charges, has had a lot of
success in 100-lap main events at Illiana over the years.
The CRA touring series stars will also be a force
to be recon with current series points leader Chris Gabehart, fresh
off a big win at Anderson, IN, and Scott Hantz leading the CRA
regulars.
Other former Illiana champions entered for
Saturday night’s card include Dave Weltmeyer, Sean Matthuis, the 2006
late model champ Mike White, Boris Jurkovic and Jack Kalwasinski.
The Musgrave event is held in the memory and
honor of the late Elmer Musgrave, who passed away at the age of 72 on
September 20, 2000. Musgrave was a long-time Chicagoland stock car
competitor, racing at tracks throughout the Midwest and the Chicago
area. Musgrave was the father of 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
Champion—Ted Musgrave. Ted Musgrave will be on hand Saturday for a
special autograph session. A special 35-lap limited late model feature
and 4-cylinder Pure Stocks will also be on the night’s card
