Mooi To Make ARCA
RE/MAX Series Debut Saturday at Berlin Raceway
Salem, IN (July 5, 2007) –
18-year-old CRA Super Series rookie competitor Ray Mooi will make his
ARCA RE/MAX Series debut at Berlin Raceway in this weekend’s Request
Foods-GFS 200 in the Cunningham Motorsports #4 Dodge. Mooi, a New
Lenox, Illinois native, is currently 12th in CRA Super
Series points after 7 events, despite missing the May 20th
series event because of his high school graduation. Mooi is currently
3rd in the Team Full Throttle Driver Development Services
Rookie Of The Year Standings, with a best finish of 12th at
the June 9th Anderson Speedway event. Mooi’s other best
finishes were 13th at this past Saturday’s event at Angola
Motor Speedway and 14th at the June 2 event at Columbus
Motor Speedway.
"We want to accomplish a number of
things this weekend but first and foremost, realistically, just finish
the race," remarked Mooi. "I know that I have a lot to learn with
these cars. The team that Mark Gibson and Kerry Scherer have put
together at Cunningham Motorsports is a great group of people with a
lot of experience. My biggest challenge will be getting use to the car
in race conditions. The guys have and will give me a car that is
competitive and I know it will be fun to drive. I would like to thank
a lot of people also in helping me get the chance to drive this
weekend. First I would like to thank the ARCA Series, my mentor and
teacher Bob Strait, Mark Gibson and a special thanks to Kerry Scherer
and the guys at Cunningham Motorsports. Also Mike Crews and Aaron, and
especially my Dad, Mom, and my sisters Gina and Marley, without all of
these folks this would not be possible."
Ray started racing go-karts at age 8,
winning features and finishing 2nd in points in the 2004
season. Moving from go-karts to Legend cars and on to the Mid American
cars and now late models with the CRA Super Series, Mooi has created
for himself a very attractive resume. Between a well-rounded career in
racing and the success he has shown in various venues, Mooi has set
himself up for an exciting opportunity with the Cunningham Motorsports
Dodge Development Program. Mooi has joined up with the #4 Dodge
Motorsports Dodge Charger team headed veteran team owner and racer
Mark Gibson. The team plans on giving Mooi all the right tools, in
order, for him to have a successful run this weekend at Berlin
Raceway.
