Hoosier Tire Selects RV Performance as New Tire
Dealer for CRA Super Series
RV Absorbs $5 of
Proposed Increased Tire Cost; Serves as Catalyst for Reduced Spec Fuel
Cost with Torco
Salem, IN
(February 23, 2007)- Officials from Champion Racing Association
(CRA) and Hoosier Tire announced that RV Performance will serve as the
tire dealer for the CRA Super Series
in
2007. RV Performance, led by Bob Varney, is replacing Sibila Race
Engineering, who stepped aside as the dealer in the off-season.
Hoosier
representatives had proposed a $6 increase per tire in 2007, and RV
performance stepped in to absorb $5 of that. Thus, racers will see
only a $1 increase in tire cost for 2007. In addition to savings over
the proposed increase of the tire cost, RV also led the effort to
reduce the cost of the Spec Fuel for the CRA Super Series teams. With
support from Torco Fuels, the Spec Fuel dropped significantly in price
for the 2007 season, to $4.75 a gallon.
The news of the new
dealer has brought about a mixed bag of emotions for CRA officials.
While delighted with the effort and commitment that RV Performance is
bringing to the series, officials were sorry to see the popular Sibila
step aside. "Tim Sibila and his guys provided great service to our
teams in recent years, and he will be greatly missed in that
position," noted CRA founder R. J. Scott. "Due to issues with costs,
location and logistics, it was not lucrative enough to continue to
service the series, so we certainly understand his reasoning. But like
they say, when one door closes another one opens, and through it
walked RV Performance, with significantly reduced costs for the
competitors. It looks like we are going to be very lucky to make this
kind of transition."
Hoosier Tire Brand
Manager Terry Newton feels very confidant with their selection of RV
Performance. "They have done a great job servicing the ASA Late Model
Series, and this is a natural diversification of their business. They
understand that Sibila set the bar high for service to the teams, and
they are ready to meet that challenge."
For Bob Varney and
his RV Performance, this move is merely an extension of their existing
business. "Our business has been selling parts, fuel and tires for
many years for different groups, so this association with CRA is just
a natural progression for us," Varney commented. "Having worked and
raced with CRA in the past, I know what kind of quality organization
I’m getting the opportunity to deal with, so we wanted to put our best
foot forward with pricing and service right out of the box."
The 2007 season gets
underway March 31-April 1 in Nashville for the Spring Clash 150 at the
Music City MotorPlex. Teams wishing to pre-order practice tires may do
so by contacting Bob at 586-615-8763 or email him at
