Goodyear Tires Tie Two Groups Together as Well as Rule and Scheduling Efforts

Salem, IN (February 5, 2007) – Officials from the Champion Racing Association (CRA) and Baer Field Speedway recently detailed areas where the two groups will work together to bring the Sportsman/Late Model rules packages in line with each other. Baer Field announced last week their selection of the 8" Goodyear 62’s and 63’s as their track tire for the 2007 season for their late model division. This falls in line with CRA Sportsman rules that have multiple tires to choose from, but the Goodyear has been the primary choice for the CRA teams. Additionally, Ft. In the area of rules, most of the weights are within 50 lbs between the two groups. The only major difference is that Baer Field does not allow the 5 inch coil-over set up. As a result, CRA officials are discouraging the use of the 5" coil-over set up with their teams, as it may not be allowed in their rules in the future.

The officials for both the CRA Sportsman and Baer Field Late Models have worked together on scheduling so there is little conflict. The two groups will also be working together to promote each other and their teams. The rules package utilized is very similar to sportsman or late models at tracks like ShadyBowl, Kil-Kare, Berlin, and many other places.

In this second year of racing for the CRA Sportsman, a tentative 11 race schedule is in place that features great facilities like Baer Field Speedway, O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis, Anderson Speedway, Winchester Speedway and Shady Bowl Speedway. Standard purses for the sanctioned CRA Sportsman events are $1,000 to win and $100 to start, with the Circle Track Nationals in Indianapolis paying $1500 to win. The first event on the CRA Sportsman schedule is May 5^th at Winchester Speedway as part of the ARCA 200 Weekend.
