Salem, IN (August 15, 2007) – The #21 Steve Davis owned team is on a roll that continued last Saturday night with veteran Ft. Wayne racer Steve Christman getting the win in the 50 lap feature at Baer Field Speedway. A late caution helped Christman as Phil Evans had pulled out to a sizeable lead when the caution flew with two laps remaining placing Christman on Evan’s back bumper. Christman got around Evans on the restart and brought Bobby Murany with him, Christman held off Murany to get the win. Christman became the first driver to win two races with the series this season and gave Steve Davis his third win of the 2007 season. Christman got his the first win of the season for Davis at the series May event at Baer Field Speedway. The Davis team was coming off another victory in the series prior event to Baer Field at Anderson Speedway with Calvin Parham getting the victory for Davis in that event.

The #21 Davis Team continues to lead in the car owner standings by 28 points over 2006 Champion Joe Beaver, who is leading the driver standings. Rookie Jacob Owen is third 15 points behind Beaver with fellow rookie Phil Evans in fourth eight points behind Owen. Rich Boyer is in fifth, John Weisenhauer is sixth, rookies Larry Matillo and Winston Wood are seventh and eighth with Shawn Bonar in ninth and Bobby Murany in tenth place.

The series has had seven winners in eight events to date including Joe Beaver, Frank Kimmel II, Bubba Trinkle and Jeff Perry all with victories in series events at Winchester Speedway. Bret Miles Jr. and Calvin Parham got wins at Anderson Speedway and Christman’s two victories at Bear Field Speedway. The series now heads to Plymouth Speedway were it was originally suppose to have an event on June 25^th, but that event was canceled because of weather.

Local competitor Kevin Gunkel got the win in last years 100 lap CRA Street Stock event at Plymouth Speedway. Gunkel looked to be headed toward a second place finish behind leader Rodney Spencer when on lap 84 Spencer made contact with the retaining wall on the front stretch with what appeared to be a right front tire going flat. Those suspicions were confirmed on the next lap, when headed into turn one, Spencer’s car took a hard right into the outside wall doing major damage to his car. Spencer was shaken up and was taken to the ambulance, but was later released.

Spencer’s issues created a golden opportunity for Gunkel to score the victory, and that’s exactly what he did. With Spencer out of the race, Gunkel was by far the class of the remaining field, and showed that muscle by pulling out to a 6.318 second margin of victory in a race that was very competitive until that point, with nine total lead changes among seven drivers. The rest of the top five were Rich Boyer in second after starting 28^th in the 40 car field, Joe Beaver in third, Dave Mannia in fourth, and Mike Riddle Jr. in fifth.
