Jack Smith Still In Front Of The Cometic Gasket Hardcharger Standings

Salem, IN (August 2, 2007) – Jack Smith is still in the lead of the Cometic Gasket Hardcharger Standings after seven CRA Super Series events so far this season heading into Saturday’s Budweiser 250 at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana. Smith, who has previously led the standings earlier in the season, has now had the lead for the past two series events. The series has been off since it’s June 30th event at Angola Motor Speedway were Smith finished in 11th gaining four positions from his 15th place starting spot.

Smith has a total of 28 gained positions to date, rookie contender Ray Mooi is close behind in second with 27 gained positions, moving up in the standings after gaining eight positions at the Angola event. Part-time series driver Bret Miles Jr. is currently in third with 21 gained positions, while only competing in four events to date. Miles Jr. is only competing in selected events during the 2007 season in order to compete for the series Rookie Of The Year title in 2008.

Jason Shively has moved up to fourth with 20 gained positions, including the four he gained in the Angola event. Rookie contender Seam Matthuis is tied for fifth with fellow rookie Nick Baran with 14 gained positions. Baran lost nine positions in the Angola event after being involved in an early accident, while Matthuis lost eight after being forced to the pits with no brakes, which ended his day.
