Seven Different
Winners In Seven Events So Far For The CRA Street Stocks
Salem, IN (August 9, 2007) –
So far in 2007, the CRA Street Stocks have had seven different drivers
win the seven series events held to date. The latest winner was Calvin
Parham in last Saturday nights Bud Light 150 at Anderson Speedway, a
win that also propelled his team back into the series points lead. Car
owner for the #21 CRA Street Stock, Steve Davis, had his car in
victory lane earlier this season at
Baer Field Speedway, but veteran Ft. Wayne driver Steve Christman was
behind the wheel for that win. Parham has been the driver in the
series other six events so far this season.
Other winners in 2007 include 2006
series Champion Joe Beaver, Frank Kimmel II, Bubba Trinkle and Jeff
Perry all with victories in series events at Winchester Speedway.
Christman got the win at Baer Field Speedway while Bret Miles Jr. and
Parham got wins at Anderson Speedway. The series leaders in victories
last season, Beau Mitchell with five and Rich Boyer with two, have
both been unsuccessful in getting to victory lane so far this season,
both have a second place finish this season.
The series will look to see if an
eighth different winner can get to victory lane as the series travels
north for it’s second event of the season on the 3/8th’s
mile track at Baer Field Speedway this Saturday night August 11th. The
series will have 10 lap heat races and a 50-lap feature along with a
full program of Baer Field Speedway local divisions racing.
The 2007 season has been one of ups
and downs for all the teams competing for the series point’s
championship. Every time a team climbs to the top of the point’s
standings, something happens at the next event and a different team
seems to climb to the top. This trend continued last Saturday night as
Rich Boyer came into the event as the series points leader, but had
has his night end on lap five with mechanical issues resulting in a 36th
place finish. The number #21 Steve Davis owned team came into last
Saturday’s event second in points but now hold a 13 point lead over
Joe Beaver who has climbed back into second place. Rookie competitor
Jacob Owens is only six points behind Beaver in third. Rookie Phil
Evans is fourth 22 points behind Owens, with Rich Boyer falling to
fifth one point behind Evans.
So far this season there have already
been 68 different drivers participate in the seven series events.
Drivers have come from six different states to participate so far this
season including Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois and North
Carolina were Dan Dicepoli traveled from to compete in last Saturday
nights event at Anderson Speedway. The series is at its halfway point
with six events left on the 2007 schedule including Saturday night’s
event at Baer Field Speedway.
Pits will open on Saturday at 2:30pm,
practice will begin at 3:30pm with qualifying at 5pm. The race program
will begin at 7:30pm. More event information and information on the
series is available at
