Bud Light 150 At Anderson Speedway Next Up For The CRA Street Stocks

Salem, IN (August 1, 2007) – The CRA Street Stocks next event will be the Bud Light 150 at Anderson Speedway this Saturday night. That event will be part of the Responsibility Matters Anderson 400 Event Presented By Great Deals Coupon Magazine that will also include the Budweiser 250 for the CRA Super Series. Saturday’s event will be the second longest race of the season for the series and will be a true racing skills test for the drivers competing on the high-banked quarter mile racetrack located in Anderson, Indiana.

The 2007 season has been one of ups and downs for all the drivers competing for the series point’s championship. Every time a team climbs to the top of the point’s standings, something happens at the next event and a different team seems to climb to the top. The number 21 Steve Davis owned team with primary driver Calvin Parham was the latest victim at the series last event on July 22 at Winchester Speedway. That team came into that event as the series points leader, but ended the event with a 20th place finish after mechanical problems forced them to the pits on lap 23. That event was a wild and crazy race that saw Jeff Perry come from the tail to get his first ever series win with Rich Boyer also coming from the tail after a spin to get second and take over the series points lead.

Perry’s win gives the series six different winners in the six events held so far this season. 2006 series Champion Joe Beaver and Frank Kimmel II got victories in the series first two events at Winchester Speedway, while Steve Christman won the event at Baer Field Speedway for owner Steve Davis. Bubba Trinkle fought off Dean Baker to get his first series win at the June 10th event at Winchester Speedway. Bret Miles Jr. got the win at the series July 14th event at Anderson Speedway.

Boyer holds a 16-point lead over the Steve Davis team and only 17 points behind is Jacob Owens in third place. 2006 series Champion Joe beaver is in fourth only 21 points behind Boyer. Rookie Phil Evans, who has climbed to fifth in points with several recent top ten finishes, is five points ahead of fellow rookie competitor Larry Matillo in sixth. Former points leader Shawn Bonar has now fallen to seventh in points followed by John Weisenauer in eighth, Beau Mitchell in ninth and 16 year old rookie competitor Winston Wood in tenth following his third place finish at the July 22 Winchester Speedway event, by far his best ever finish with the series.

All the top ten drivers in points are expected to compete in Saturday nights Bud Light 150, a strong field of cars is expected, especially after having 40 cars show up for the series 75 lap event on July 14th that was won by Miles Jr. in his first series start of the season with Jacob Owens in second, Beau Mitchell in third, local competitor Willy Dehart in fourth and Calvin Parham in fifth.

Current series point’s leader Rich Boyer won last season’s Bud Light 150 event with the Responsibility Matters Anderson 400 Event Presented By Great Deals Coupon Magazine. Boyer, a several time track champion at Anderson Speedway, was also victorious in last season’s spring event for the series at Anderson. Last seasons Bud Light 150 had 41 starters with six cars still battling on the lead lap at the end of the race. Rod Phipps finished in second, Brian Hopkins in third, Bubba Trinkle in fourth and Chuck Cook in fifth.

Pits will open on Saturday at 2pm, practice will begin at 5pm with qualifying at 6:45pm. The race program will begin at 8pm with the Bud Light 150 and will be followed by the Budweiser 250 for the CRA Super Series.
