BICKLE BACK ON TRACK! VETERAN WISCONSIN DRIVER TO
MAKE FALL TOUR
(Milwaukee, WI) It’s been a longer break from being behind the
steering wheel of a race car, than, Rich Bickle usually makes in one
year. But the Mooresville, NC resident, who has been back in his
hometown of Edgerton, WI, plans on making it up the next few weeks by
going on a fall tour.
Bickle who has a career 218 combined NASCAR starts, with 3 wins, 26
top 5 finishes and 46 top 10 finishes among NASCAR’S top three
divisions, has only made three appearances so far in 2006 on Wisconsin
short-tracks. The 45 year old driver will start off heading back to
Jody Deery’s Rockford (IL) Speedway on September 22nd
through 24th for the 41st Annual National
Short-track Championships. Bickle who captured the NSTC title in 1990
under the former Artgo banner, will be making his first appearance at
Rockford Speedway as a competitor since 1992 and for the first time
racing with the Champion Racing Association (CRA), when he qualifies
for the Chicago International Trucks 200, on Saturday afternoon
September23rd. Nonetheless, Bickle who has seen some success on
Rockford’s tight quarter mile, feel’s the track that bit him more
times than man’s best friend, during his early late model career,
deserves another bite out of victory lane on Sunday September 24th.
Renowned, still as one of America’s top short-track drivers. Bickle
has won events throughout the United States and Canada with success.
Throughout his 29 year racing career one track that contributed to his
resume was Lake Geneva Raceway. The following weekend Bickle will
return to Kevin Dawson’s Lake Geneva (WI) Raceway for the Victor Ford
Final Fall Classic, September 28th through October 1st
.
The historic event which will see it’s grandstand filled for it’s
final time, will be Bickle’s first return appearance to Lake Geneva
Raceway in over 17 years. Bickle did see success at Lake Geneva during
the mid 80's, when he won a Artgo show on the previous configured flat
track. He has never raced on Lake Geneva’s new track layout and his
last appearance came in 1988 during another Artgo event in which he
settled for the runner-up honors that night.
So don’t missed this event. As Bickle battles the areas finest late
model drivers, in a 75 lap event that will go down in Lake Geneva
Raceway’s history books on Sunday October 1st .
With a crew of over 25 years of racing experience this fall, Rich
will then head north for the grand daddy of them all at Lacrosse
Fairgrounds Speedway, in another effort in adding to his over 280
short-track victories.
The 37th Annual Octoberfest Race Weekend will get
underway at the beautiful 5/8 mile oval in western Wisconsin, October
5th through the 8th at the fairgrounds. Bickle
who won the annual fall event back in 1986, will compete in Sunday’s
Wisconsin 100 Super Late Model event, via of capturing the event’s
$5000 first prize, against many of the top Midwest drivers and racing
legend Dick Trickle.
From the camper village, the "Racing Family Reunion" and the
legendary after-race parties Bickle will be returning to the Lacrosse
Fairground Speedway and Octoberfest for the first time in over a
decade. So don’t miss out on any of these action packed weekends
coming up.
